Room keys

I was trying to figure out the last time I actually had a metal room key instead of a card or something similar. Does anyone know when Disney got rid of metal keys?

I remember the Poly having them(key cards) when we stayed there in 85. But not sure exactly whennit started

My first trip was in 93 I believe, and we had plastic cards.

The key cards used to be resort specific. I’ll throw that out there.

I recall having cards as far back as 2006. It definitely goes beyond that though.

When we stayed at Dixie Landings in '94, it was the plastic punch-hole cards.

Weve always had key card entries since we started going to WDW. Havent used a key for any other hotels weve used in the last several decades except for this old motel we stopped at once.
