Room Keys

I have been to WDW 3 times now and this may seem like a dumb question but I just have to ask it. Do all the room keys have to have the name of the person who holds the reservation? Can they put an individual's name? I know Universal does it when you ask, but can Disney do the same? I have always been afraid to ask.

Thanks!!

If you're worried about looking like a dork who wants it as a souvenier.. don't! We're all those kind of dorks here! :p I'd want the exact same thing. Disney deals with people like us all the time too- they'll think nothing of it (besides they might think it's so you keep your keys sorted or something)! :)

Disney always has the name of the person who booked the reservation on all the keys to the room. I didn't know they could put individual names on each one, but that's cool that they can!

Thats is no longer the case thought. Starting this year because of the new MYW passes each member or your party automaticaly will get a key with there name on it. You don't have to ask for it as this is the only way they do it know. This way if your key is also a park ticket it already has your name on it for use with park entry.

Cool! My husband has always complained that my name has been on his key!

I did ask once that his name appear on the key, then we all had his name.

She didn't mention that we can each have our own name on our key.

If you really wanna be a dork, "loose" your room key on the last night. Run down to the desk to get another one. They won't bother to print your info on it, and you will get a pretty, BLANK keycard to keep. :)

I have never done it intentionally, but it seems to happen once a trip for at least one member of the party and I grab that puppy like it's gold. :) My last trip someone was going to throw it in the garbage (it was a 1-time use one) and I almost knocked them over I grabbed it so quick. :)

As to the individual names, yes, that's how they do it now. I've never had to ask, I've just been given a stack of keys with each name on it.

Well, if you really really wanna be a dork, just go up to the front desk anytime and just openly ask for a blank key. 9 times out of 10 they will be happy to give you one. (of course there is no entitlements on it, and it will not open any doors on property anywhere, but hey free suvee!)

An no, AEfx I don't think you are a dork, I did this all the time before I worked here...

LOL....I have kept all of ours from all of our previous trips. We are planning on doing a collage of our trips and the room keys are a must for a complete collage.

LOL, I never thought about that. You know, makes sense. At Disney, being direct is generally the best policy - you'd be surprised what nice things can happen if you just ask.

*sigh* I love this forum... So good to be around my fellow dorks!

(I did that last year, JP... The CM at the front desk thought my request was so cute that she gave me one of the pretty gold tinkerbell cards! It has a place of honour in my Disney collection!!!)
