Room classifications at POP

I know that standard rooms usually are a little further from the central building or overlook a parking lot, etc. and that "preferred" rooms are closer to the central building or swimming pools, but what classification are the rooms that overlook the lake? Thanks.

I think those are still considered standard. The thing is will classifications like preferred and standard Disney can change them on a whim.

Of course for 2012 they have added "Standard Pool View" and "Preferred Pool View". So four choices and prices instead of two.

This is my opinion, but we have always stayed in the 70s building and its not far at all to the food court and the busses. we have also had a view of the lake. I dont think any bldg. is that far at POP. And I wouldnt pay for preferred.

I had a preferred room my last trip because that's all that was available. However, it was anything but preferred. I was in the 70's building, but was practically in the 80's. It wasn't a huge deal, because nothing there is that far away, but it was a little annoying. I was expecting to be in the 60's literally right behind the main building.

About 2/3 of the Preferred Rooms are in the 60's buildings, but the remaining 1/3 are in the sections of the 70's and 50's buildings closest to Classic Hall.

Also, about 1/3 of the 60's buildings are *not* Preferred, and are the back sides that face the lake. I have a link to a map with the Preferred rooms marked, but it's on my other computer. I'll see if I can post it later.

I have to say the 80's is about as far away as you can get. I remember walking through the parking lot to get back to our room as its a shorter walk from the bus stop to just cut across the parking lot. Dont think I would enjoy another stay at the 80's.

I half agree with you.

80's Building 7 is one of the farthest away (along with Buidling 2 at the far end of the 50's section), and really only convenient for people with a car and want to park near their room.

But 80's Building 9 is one of the buildings on my request list when I stay at Pop (the others are 10 and 6). It backs up against the lot between Buildings 9, 10 and the food court. A quick cut-across the lot gets you to the bus stops, and cutting across the back of Building 10 gets you to the food court.

We stayed in the 80s building once when we didn't request a room. We hated it. There was something that bothered us about cutting through a parking lot while at Disney. I found myself taking the long way to food court to avoid the lot. we loved the 60s building facing hourglass lake, and requested it last year. It was not preferred back there, at least by Disney pricing. We definitely prefer it.

Dont care how far I would have to walk no way I am staying in the 60s or 70s building......those were horrible decades for fashion, music and hair style.....

now the 80s were the decade!

After doing research on here(Wdwmagic) We found that the most liked rooms/preferred room that lots of people talked about were the 60's section so thats what rooms we asked for(I know we might not get that).:)
