Room Availability 2022

I have been researching prices for a large, multi-room family vacation in August of 2022.

I noticed that room availability is still somewhat limited for this period. It appears that, despite resorts being open, the resorts are limiting room availability. I did some digging and found that this may be a result of Disney limiting capacity at hotel facilities, and resulting overcrowding and guest dissatisfaction.

Moreover, Disney seems to be more severely limiting less expensive standard rooms at deluxe hotels. I assume this is because margins on standard rooms are much smaller, so it only makes sense that they would close off these rooms first. I’m curious if they may open these rooms as next summer draws nearer.

I just wanted to get thoughts from anyone else trying to book next summer. Is anyone else experiencing similar issues? Can any insiders confirm my suspicions?

I think if anything its due t on going staffing issues if anything. Disney cant and wont let all those Monster Hotels sit 1/4 empty, they want us packed in like Sardines. Now if they had spent a PORTION of that money on the Parks (IE Rides and Attractions) it would be a non issue as the parks would have capacity.

I think you're right, and I think it's a staffing shortage that is more sharply felt at the hotels than the parks, as, they don't seem to mind pumping up park capacity continually. They "refilled" park passes this morning and are currently showing all dates -- including October 1st -- available for all parks.

Its clear that Disney has been limiting room availability and they are playing with it where one day something is available and then its not for a week and then it is again.
My suggestion is to just check daily.
That's what I had to do for August 2021 and November 2021.

Thanks for the insight. That’s all decent news for me. We’ll probably be booking Wilderness Lodge but didn’t want to pay the premium for “nature” views. So we’ll check back daily for standard views.

I have wild theories:
1) They're uncertain about the future.
2) They haven't gotten around to doing the work of releasing the rooms.
3) They don't realize or maybe care they have rooms to rent. Seriously. haha.
