I am planning a surprise trip for my wife and I in late September to WDW. We had our honeymoon here and 6 kids later I wanted to surprise her with a trip "alone" back to where we first celebrated. We are both not overly fancy people but I like one night to be something special and very nice and was looking for something reallyt fun for another night. We will be staying at the Grand Floridian and I am shying away from Victoria & Alberts, I think she will feel too uncomfortable there. Suggestions?

The Biergarten can be a lot of fun. One word of caution - you might have difficulty getting ADR's for many of the restaurants now. The free dining plan has resulted in many places being booked solid.

We love romantic dinners.. but our favorite places are ones that we feel comfy in.. and that have a great amount of ambiance and theming. Most fine dining places are too bright or bland looking inside.. they feel stuffy to us.. but Disney World offers some places thar are perfect for us.. amazing ambiance and theming.. along with ridiculously awesome food! Those places that we enjoy are:

1. Ohana's: This place is just beautiful inside.. I can't say enough about it.. the lighting, views from the windows, etc are just really perfect. I would start with a dinner here.. you have the music, the fire pit in the middle, etc. Also the food here is awesome.

2. Fulton's Crab House: If you like seafood at all.. you can't beat this place. You walk into the ship and its just really nice looking inside.. deep woods and a cool staircase to the second level. Be sure to ask for a table in the blue room on the second floor.. its kind of lit up in this blue glow.. awesome. Best seafood I ever had there also.

3. Hoop De Doo: Sure, it's not romantic but its a really fun dinner show at an amazing little out of the way lodge type thing. It almost feels like a wedding since they always have your table waiting for you with your namecard on it etc.. love this place. Not romantic, just very well themed and fun as hell.

4. Liberty Tree: We always eat here.. its liek thanksgiving dinner right in the middle of magic kindom.. the inside of this place is so awesome.. feels like a comfy old cabin from the colonial days.. again not real romantic.. but its super magical and me and my wife try to this first or second day of our trips.

5. Other places with great ambiance, lighting, etc to us are : Mexico San Angel Inn (food isnt very good though.. but really is romantic.), Biergarten in Germany (again, not the best food.. and not romantic.. but very cool inside), and i can't rememer what else atm.

6. I want to try Boma soon.. I heard it could be very similar to the type of places we like.

A place my DH and I always have to go now is Raglan Road- although most would not call it romantic- We love it there. Around 9ish every night (or is it now 8pm??) they have a live band play. It's a Irish resturaunt at DTD and the food is excelent!!

We aren't very fancy either so that place is great for us.

AS already mentioned, it might be difficult or impossible to get a dinner reservation for your first choice, so have a couple in mind when you call.

I'd like to suggest Artists Point over at the Wilderness Lodge.
You can take a great sunset boat ride from the Magic Kingdom across the lake and get off right at the Lodge. The restaurant is upscale, yet in very relaxed surroundings. As it's generally considered a more "adult" place, it might be easier to get reservations in than some for the more popular "family" places.

If that is not available, try the Portobello Yacht Club at Downtown Disney.
They have a somewhat upscale, yet still casual atmosphere that can also be very romantic once the great service and wine selections begin! :animwink: It is genrally an "italian-inspired" menu, but everything I've ever had there was great! AFter dinner you could shop or walk over to catch a showing of Cirque di Soleil's show (La Nouba) or maybe just split a big old sundae at Ghirardelli's together.

HAVE FUN!
