Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Now that Force Awakens had been out and discussed for a good amount of time, I figured I would start the discussion on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (or at least what we know about it so far).

We know filming has taken place at Elstree Studios in England which most likely was used for interior shots and special effects shots. They also filmed on location in Iceland and the Maldives. I'm wondering what planets both locations will represent in the film.

I'm a bit uneasy about Tarkin being brought back to life via CGI. Industrial Light & Magic has their work cut out for them with that task. And it'll be nice to see Vader return to the big screen even if it's just for a small cameo which I'm fine with this isn't a film about Jedi and Sith.

The final thing I wanted to touch on is when does everyone think we will get our first trailer for this? As far as first trailers go, I can see them attaching one to Jungle Book which comes out in March (earliest) or for Captain America: Civil War which comes out in May (latest) and obviously we will get more trailers and tv spots that will follow. Also we will probably get an episode VIII teaser trailer of some sort maybe in fall of 2016 or earlier but that's a topic for a different forum.

I am a bit surprised we didn't get the announcement trailer in front of the force awakens. I know they probably figured they didn't want to take any hype away from TFA but lets be honest, nothing was going to steal any EP VII thunder. I really hope we start getting more info on this movie soon.

i was hoping they would attach it to TFA too. With the advent of YouTube and social media they could technically release the trailer whenever they are ready to.

Here's something else I've been wondering, will "A Star Wars Story" films have an opening crawl like the saga movies?

My guess is there will be a logo, and a snatch of music (echoing but not the same as the Williams theme), a bit like with Clone Wars, but no crawl. Will be interesting to see if this is pitched as something very different to the episodes, or more of the same.

I suspect they will try to keep them distant to avoid viewer confusion. It wouldn't surprise me if many people come out of it wondering why Luke and Rey weren't in that one.

I agree lol to the casual movie goer they'll be expecting it to be a continuation to TFA. I'll be honest after seeing TFA I'm more excited for the "Star Wars Story" films. It's like Expanded Universe come to life. It's very exciting to me.
