no, they made it much rougher in the re-do.
About the rocks..either they're really going for reality and immersion, or preventative maintenance has been cut back to save money.

There still should be signs of damage, though, right?

I'd think so. My best guess is, since it didn't fall on any track piece, maybe it was unnoticeable / hidden interior piece or something? They kept that side closed, so it's probably in a unique spot I'd think..

I mean. The rock work could be hard to tell for sure.

I know they inspected the important stuff like track.. but if that rock work fell on the track during operating hours we could've seen a different type of article. Fortunately it didn't happen. I thought there'd be some sort of technology today that would figure out if rockwork was still solid? Maybe not.

Why not both? Cynthia Harris did it for years until the BTMRR accident.

“During overnight maintenance, a portion of decorative rockwork was found to be in need of repair, which we are working quickly to make,” Disneyland officials stated.

Because the fallen rockwork was found by Disneyland employees who were working the graveyard shift at the time and it occurred long after park closing, no theme park guests or employees were injured. The damaged plaster also did not fall on the attraction’s track, so the repairs are more cosmetic than mechanical.
