RIVERS OF LIGHT DINING PACKAGE

I was unable to secure a ROL dining package reservation. We have ADR for Tusker House dinner that day, but Disney wouldn't convert that into a dining pkg res when I called. Surely, they can't all be sold out, can they? Is the special seating still necessary? Will I be able to find a decent seat this Monday to watch the show in standby? Looks like all FP+ are given out as well. Thanks!

Rivers of Light is decidedly disappointing. You'll experience it no matter where you sit and it's not worth a dining package premium.

It's also not worth doing unless you've done many other night shows beforehand, including:

1) Fantasmic
2) HEA
3) Star Wars, a Galactic Spectacular.
4) Illuminations

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
It's worth it for sure to see it at least once and make your own decision. Booking if you are trying for November or December is not out yet for those months. And October starts it only on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. It's not nightly starting in October (common for Oct-Feb/march to cut hours or shows) so likely will be the same for November and December. But the packeges are out through October. Just check back often. Also you can get a FP for it as well Instead if you don't want to wait in the standby line at least an hour ahead or more. (There is only 1000 standby seats out of 5000 total) ;)

I was definitely worried about not being able to see it without a dining package, but my schedule was such that I didn't want to commit to table service on my Animal Kingdom day. Turns out Rivers of Light is pretty disappointing and I shouldn't have worried. If the choice were between it and Fantasmic, I'd go with Fantasmic every time.
You'll almost certainly find seating if you get there with a bit of time, and definitely for the second show. We went to Everest immediately after the first showing and then walked by again after, the CMs were practically begging people to go in for the second one, the place was empty.

To add the later fall shows will likely only have 1 show a night and not every night so it may be tougher to do standby or a longer wait. Don't know when they are going yet though. ;)

The show?

Rivers of Light is a pretty show and worth a watch. It's very hard to compare to the other night time shows in the parks because it's so unique and doesn't use any pryo, but it is near/is the level of the other shows.
Ty I was now confused about even going , we will do it

It's worth watching the one time so that you can say you experienced it, but it's nothing to write home about, and I wouldn't go out of my way to see it again. Basically, if you happen to be near the theatre and RoL is about to start, why not?
I wouldn't rearrange my days around it, but that's just me. Hope it helps!

I just saw RoL for the first time a few days ago and well it was terrible. Boring and the show itself really has no story and doesnt make any sense. I wouldnt see it again

Saw it in July and enjoyed it very much. It is different from the other night time show because of lack of fireworks. If you like the Tree of Life awake or watching the fountain show at Epcot you may enjoy rivers of light.
Hope you can get the dining package if you still want it.

I was ultimately unable to secure the dining package. I still used our Tusker ADR,and enjoyed the meal and characters. We walked into the standby seating area around 8:10 for the 8:45 show, theater was about half full, we were seated all the way down front, 2 rows back. GREAT SEATS! As first time viewers, and a family with 2 preteen girls, we enjoyed it immensely. I was watching their faces and can't recall the last time I saw those reactions to anything. Impressed! We thought it was the perfect way to end a AK day. Then, afterwards, we went and explored Pandora in the dark. AWESOME!

Now that November and December is out, is anyone looking for Dining Packages for January or February 2018? I'm looking for the week of February 11-18 and hoping that I don't have to try and reschedule any other Table Service Restaurants.

Those likely won’t be out for another month or so give or take if going by current patterns of releasing them. :)

You'll have to judge for yourself if you like ROL after you see it. Don't forget that the dining package also includes breakfast at TH. It's the best deal at $39/adult.

I have to agree. Call me a cliche everyday Disney tourist, but I feel like it would have been a lot better with animal-themed Disney movies! Just saying! Like a Fantasmic style attraction but animal themed... Would be a lot more entertaining. It's kind of boring to be honest. There's only so much enjoyment I can get out of synchronized water and projections with little to no peak in excitement.

I'm hoping to get Tusker Breakfast for three of us. If not I do have an 8:10 am and an 8:15 am breakfast at Tusker two separate days hoping one of them is an ROL day and then we'll try for fast passs.
