We are going to Disney in June and there is still no new news on the dining plan for River of Lights. From what I can see, Tusker House will be offering the plan. Do you think its smart to go ahead and book a dinner at Tusker House and see if we can alter it to the dining plan?

Assuming they'll operate like the Fantasmic dining packages, you'd have to cancel your Tusker House reservation and re-book as the dining anyway, so there's really no incentive to book now. The only reason you'd want to is if you 100% want to dine at Tusker House even if you don't get a RoL package.

I was nosing around online today for the dates we'll likely be visiting over the summer and I noticed a surprising lack of ADRs open for dinner at Tusker. Considering prime spots at 'Ohana dinner, Cali Grill dinner, BOG and all of the early pre-park opening character meal slots were there and quite plentiful...it says to me one of the two things.

1. people are doing what you suggested doing
2. Disney is taking a bunch of the slots out of the system to make room for the package slots.

Still, when Disney offers package dining, it's always independent from normal ADRs. So, I wouldn't bother booking anything right now.

Do any of you know what time the show would begin? We are actually planning to leave the park for dinner, but I don't want to miss this. I just watched a video about it and it looks like it will be beautiful! Will this be something that can be seen from around or will it require special seating like Fantasmic?

Just out of curiosity, I checked dinner times for the date we'll be there (July 17) and the only times available were 4:15 and 4:30.
