Rides at Night

I'm in the midst of planning our first Disneyland trip for this May, and I'm sure will have many more questions in the future. Right now though, I was thinking about putting together a list of attractions that we should try to experience at night. Big Thunder will be down on our trip, and Splash Mtn is low priority for me. I've read RSR is cool at night. Any other rides we should make an effort to do at night? In WDW, we find nighttime also improves the experience of Haunted Mansion and Pirates, so it doesn't necessarily have to be only outdoor attractions.

Definitely Matterhorn. The ride naturally speeds up after time. It's fun during the day, but it's an absolute blast at night.

Definitely Storybook Land Canal Boats. It feels different at night.

Pirates is really fun and better at night, for some reason. I don't know why. Same for Space Mountain, I don't know why it's more fun at night, it just is.

Pretty much all the Fantasyland dark rides.

Autopia is great in the daytime and nighttime.

Indiana Jones, for sure.

Of course, Mansion and Tower.

RSR, FOR SURE.

Pirates is better at night, IMO, because the transition from outside to indoors is seamless as it is night time for both and the illusion of the queue being outdoors is more convincing. I've heard several people mention, while waiting in line, that they thought they were outdoors the entire time which I always get a kick out of.

Agree with all the other rides mentioned in the thread. To me, Thunder and Matterhorn at DL benefit the greatest when experienced at night. And at DCA, you really haven't done Radiator Springs if you haven't done it at night. The lighting on that thing when it's dark out is jaw dropping, even if you're just watching from afar!

Hhhmm, good observation! I think that is the reason. The ambiance and atmosphere is definitely more convincing. Thanks for pointing that out!
