So we will be traveling 2adults, 2 9 year olds and a 19 month old (during the week after New Years ) I have checked which rides do allow the ride switch. My question is - can you the fastpass and also request a rider switch as long as all people have a fast pass for the ride?

I did read on the disney website and it just states to get in the "normal queue". Normal with the fastpass would be the fast pass line correct? Please clarify if you have any experience with this

Fast Pass provides the user with the ability to skip some, if not all, of the queue. At some point guests with and without FP join together in order to experience the ride / show / attraction. The only difference being that some have waited in line for ages.
To answer your question - as long as everyone wanting to switch has a valid FP then the answer to your question is yes you can do it, it matters not which line you stood in to get to the switch point

actually.........not everyone has to have a FP for that ride.
we often do the rider switch with our little ones. it allows the first group (if they have FP) to go through FP line and then a second group- including the one who did not ride the first time- to back again through the fastpass line. most rides allow the non-rider and up to three guests to return, but some rides have different numbers I think. the back of the pass will tell you how many can return.
we usually get a FP only for those going on the first trip, and not for the guy staying back with the little one. that way we can FP something the little one wants to go on like dumbo, and that adult still has a FP available to take him/her.
we try to do them at the same time and then switch rides- we are VERY time efficient!
