Ricky Schroder as Peter Pan (almost made movie)

A few years back, I remember reading in a couple of different books that a live-action version of Peter Pan was planned in the early 1980's with Ricky Schroder playing Peter. However, the project fell through and never was made. Don't remember if Disney was making this or not, since I don't remember any mention of a movie company. One of these books was a film reference book that listed Peter Pan along with Apt Pupil (which also fell through, right in the middle of shooting) in the list of Rick's movies. Don't remember too much about the other book, except a few things; one was that Schroder's outfit was going to be more like that of the Disney cartoon (with the green tights), instead of the more accurate to text leaf outfit worn by Jeremy Sumpter in the recent live action film. I also remember that a crying scene for Peter Pan was written in, since Ricky Schroder was so good at it (if you've ever seen The Champ, you'll see why!), more specifically in the scene where Tinker Bell was apparently dying.

Anyone else remember reading any mention of this, or am I the only one?

I forgot to mention that the 2nd book mentioned a kissing scene (which may have been planned as his first onscreen kiss) with Wendy, played by some British girl about Schroder's age (don't remember a name offhand).

Kent, you should incorporate this book/movie into one of your parks or have your Peter Pan ride based on this.

I have Peter Pan's Flight in Fantasyland. As for the almost-made movie mentioned, that would be impossible since it never was made! Also, Peter Pan's Flight is based on Disney's animated film, not other versions. The best bet would be to a writeup about the various versions of Pan in the queueing area for Peter Pan's Flight, much like the writeup about Cinderella's Royal Carousel and the history of the carousel at WDW's Magic Kingdom.

However, that was a bit off-topic anyway! :animwink:
