revising touring plans

So... how many of you are revising plans to stay away from the A&E RD stampede? How long does it usually take for the hype to calm down a bit?

(This affects me how? Glad you asked!) Taking 4 DDs and DH for our first trip in September and were hoping to start touring in NFL. If I get my way, we will be breaking fast at CP prior to RD and enjoying our first view of Main St./Cindy's castle sans craziness. But breakfast or not, we *were* planning on heading to NFL, maybe to see Rapunzel, or Merida, or Ariel, or... somethingnonFrozen at RD, and only seeing the Frozen duo if we get a FP+. HOWEVER, those crowds, O_o! I've got 4 little legs that will be taking in things as they will, and now I'm considering starting in Adventureland, etc. For those who start there- is it still possible to see "everything" in FL/NFL over the afternoon & evening? Plans are to return to MK the next day after brunch (11ish) so 9/8 will be our only RD day at MK. Day "2" is the first day of MNSSHP and closes early, so I've been told the crowds are VERY light- does that make a difference in what we could get done in FL/NFL, if we wait until after 11 to get started there?

People who go to Anna and Elsa always take the path that goes under the castle. If you wanted to do Fantasyland first, I would take the bridge to the right of the castle that goes towards the motor speedway. Then you could cut into Fantasyland and do attractions over there.

I would recommend starting in Frontier Land more than adventure. The lines for Adventure grow slower in the morning compared to the other lands of the park.

If you don't want to be in the Anna & Elsa madness at rope drop, then I'd suggest Adventureland. We were there last September during the same week that you mentioned. At rope drop, for the first ride of Aladdin's Magic Carpet, Jasmine picked a little girl to ride the ride with her. Also, Aladdin was there and he picked a child too. To me that's a bit more magical than standing in line waiting to see a princess.

I will directly relate this to the TSMM Rope Drop Stampede and the Soarin' RDS. It has been how many years since those attractions have been up and there still is the daily stampede to them. I doubt that A&E will be slowing down anytime soon. The movie was just too big and people will still be going on their "first and only" trips to WDW and "Have to meet A&E" for years to come.

And now add in the 7DMT Daily Stampede to that same general area, which will also be that way for quite a while.

Yes, the Anna&Elsa madness, has me rethinking my touring plans. Now, we will be total newbies, so the posts/video links/tweets saying both, "RD has always been like this!" and conversely, "my [relative] got elbowed in the gut- this is ridiculous!" gave me the first "OMG, WHY are we going to WDW again?!?!!!" panic since finding the Unofficial Guide and these forums, which gave me a little sense of being in control instead of overwhelmed&etc.

Anyway, most touring plans suggest starting the black hole that is NFL/FL, understandably, since it has a the most popular attractions for kids my DDs ages (4-8). So, considering the time of year we will be there (9/7-11), could we still get quite a bit seen and done if we start touring in AL? Itinerary currently has us at MK from RD-2ish and again 6-Wishes on 9/7, 11ish-7 on 9/8, and some time (TBD) before a 7pm 1900PF ADR on 9/11.

I'd love to hear from anyone else who starts at RD but does not go to N/FL!

With Free Dining, you never know now what will happen at WDW, but that week is usually light. If you scheduled your FP+ for Fantasyland...after 10:30...you'd have a back-up plan that way...may not need your FP+ for many rides. That time of year in Fantasyland, we would normally get/schedule FP for Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, and Dumbo. We've never had a problem getting on It's A Small World, Little Mermaid, Enchanted Tales w/Belle. With the number of days that you've given to MK, you'll be safe. Start in Adventureland. Remember that you can now add FP as you use one now.

Also, probably on Tuesday, 9/9, there will be the first MNSSHP.

I wrote down our MK dates wrong- we will be at WDW 9/7-11, but at MK 9/8, and if I get my way, 9/9. 9/8 is our only MK RD day, with BOG ADR at 8:45pm (which I am hoping to cancel if I can get us FP+ lunch that week). Our TS meal alternative is CP at 8:15am, before the park opens.

Ok, so if I start in AL, could we get this done before nap/break time on 9/8? (We'd be going back to AoA, but if the day gets away from us, the GPs are staying at WL and have offered their room as nap HQ on MK days).

9/8 RD-break (2ish? No idea how long all this will take!)
8:15 ADR CP (best case scenario, that is, DH lets me cancel another ADR we disagree on)
Tinkerbell (if she hasn't been moved)
Magic Carpets
Aladdin and Jasmine
Jungle Cruise
PotC
Woody & Jessie
Splash Mt*
BTMR*
(I'd take DDs4 to meet Chip/Dale & watch Country Bear Jamboree while others do Splash & BTMR)
Haunted Mansion
IASW
Meet Tiana
Lunch Columbia Harbor House
Meet Peter & Wendy
Pluto/Marie on way out

*might not be a priority if DDs are not feeling adventurous

I think that's possible. You never know with the Meet n' Greets how long they might take.

One alternative would be to go through Liberty Square first, and see IASM, PPF, and HM. Then head towards Frontierland and complete the rest of your plan. It might be quicker for you overall, but I couldn't say for certain.
