If you do the safari at opening why not do it again later in the day using fp? I normally do safari at opening then fp it mid afternoon and always kali last using fp.

I did consider this
I was thinking the animals would be more active in the morning since it will be so hot!
What is your experience with the animals in the afternoon?

I'd probably only do KS once spend the extra time on a trail or FoW.

I agree... definitely leave some time to explore that trails... you'll see tigers and gorillas, and many more. If your DD likes petting zoos at all, you'll want to head over to Rafiki's planet watch... the train is very close to the Safari entrance.

AK is a great park to explore, so just leave some unplanned time so you can enjoy it. My DS and I usually search for characters, too, since some of them are only found in AK.

It varies. I have seen most all the animals first thing in the morning (especially the lion king). So you are right to go there first. I only suggest maybe going later because you would be replicating the same adventure within a 30 minute time frame. In the afternoon - there may be fewer animals but the landscape changes with the day - so those that are more active in heat come out.

I would recommend seeing the a Festival of the Lion king and Nemo. They are both amazing shows and not to be missed. If you can only do one however, I would do FOTLK.

Personally I wouldn't do a fastpass for the safari if you're planning to hit it right at opening. I would use it for a meet and greet or even something like Dinosaur before riding the safari twice in a row. It's cool and all but if you're getting on twice back to back the experience probably won't be that different unless you get to sit on different sides of the vehicle each time, and that's a gamble. We had a fastpass for ten am and did some of the walks before our fastpass. The walks were less crowded and we still had a good view on the safari.
