Today is the day everyone! After a two-year wait, Revenge of the Mummy is officially open. Yesterday was the big media event, and Arnold Vosloo (Imhotep) and Brendan Fraser (Rick O'Connell) were there for the festivities.

Universal Excitement has a video now online of the media event which was shown on Local 6 last night.

Anyone planning to be in attendance today? I know for a fact that IOAHQ will have coverage of today. I'm interested to see the third animatronic (in the fake un-load scene), and I'd also like to know if the Imhotep AA will be working all day.

The fake unload scene AA is nice, it adds a lot to the scene. It was working at the party last night, but it was non-operational last weekend.

Also, two AA's right at the start (when they guys says get out of there) were working last night, and those also were non-operational last weekend.

The best AA is the Imhotep in this first scene....very life-like, and VERY well done.

I saw the Imotep in the fake scene on Wednesday for the first time. He's pretty cool, he looks like he was controlling the ride or something..

I love this ride!! It's nice that it is officially open now, but I bet the lines will be long. :( On Wednesday I was able to wait in line AND ride the ride in only 10 minutes! It was like a walk-on! This is a ride that I don't really mind waiting in line for but now I'm spoiled with short lines..:(

I just have to wait til Wednesday or so. Maybe I'll just go for that! :) I've ridden Shrek, Jimmy Neutron and now this all in the 1st week it opened and we've never even planned it!

I am sending this message on behalf of my Mother

How scary is the Revenge Of The Mummy ride? Does it go upside down? Are there any sharp dips? How would you number it (1-10) on the thrill scale? Is it similar in intensity to any other rides e.g. Dinosaur??

She has to know!!!

Thanks

It is along the lines of Space Mountain (because much of the ride is in the dark) and not that much more thrilling/scary.

It does not go upside down.

There are 2 sharp dips in the ride, but keep in mind that the building is not that tall so the dips are still shorter than Splash Mountain's big dip.

Intensity is maybe a 7 out of 10. Like I said, it's similar to Space Mountain, but the roller coaster segment doesn't last as long as SM. It's actually over pretty quick. The "backwards" part is no more intense than when your boat moves backwards in EPCOT's Maelstrom (Norway) ride. The only other "exciting" part is that it goes up one of the uphill ramps pretty quick, almost like the Hulk coaster (but not as intense.) There are a couple points where the ride vehicle brakes very quickly and it's almost a little bit uncomfortable, but people seem to handle it alright.

If she can handle the coasters at Magic Kingdom, she can do Mummy.
