returning an item purchased at Disney World

Last month a friend of mine went to WDW and picked up several lanyards for me. They are about the same as some others we have, so I was curious to see if I could exchange them and get something else. They are still in the bag and have the tags and WDW price sticker, but I don't have a receipt. I wasn't going to pack them, but then thought I might be able to exchange.
Does anyone know if this can be done or not?
Also if this is the wrong place for this question, I'm sorry. I wasn't sure, but it is part of my trip planning so thought I'd ask.

I would call Disney and ask them before you bring them with you.

I think you'll just get a merch. credit for the amount. I bought something last may, (a camera strap) and it turns out it didn't fit my SLR, so I brought it back in August, without the reciept. They just gave me a merch. credit, which I turned around and used anyway.

Thanks! I don't mind a merchandise credit at all. I'll be very happy to turn around and purchase something else.
I called Disney merchandising and they said they didn't know if the locations would exchange them or not, but that they would. I would really like to exchange there instead of having to mail it to them and then have them mail me back the new item.

Don't worry...they will let you exchange. My daughter received a shirt in November as a gift, purchased from MK. It was much too small, so when I went to MK in January, I exchanged it for another larger shirt. It still had the tag on it, but I did not have the receipt and it was not a problem. They did not have the original shirt, but let me choose another, and pay the difference.
I just found a Disney receipt from my January trip, and on the back is the return policy. With regard to your situation it reads: If no original receipt is presented when the item is returned, you may make an exchange for item(s) of equal or less value at the then-current price or you may elect to receive a WDW Merchandise Credit for the then-current price of the item. The WDW Merchandise Credit may only be used at participating WDW Resort owned and operated Merchandise locations and is non-refundable and not redeemable for cash, gift cards, Disney Dollars, or theme park admission tickets.
