Retired work

I have seen some posts about people who are retired/over 55 working at Disney World, most posts are pretty old. I would like any info on working during winter like Jan thru March or April. I do know about working a minimum number of hours. I know there are a lot of retired folks working there but am a little confused about how to actually get a job. Also looking for any other info you would like to share about which jobs you prefer.

Thanks, I have been there a few times. I have looked at postings. That is not really what am looking for right now. I will not be down there until Jan 2015 and you have to be able to work within 2 weeks. I have read the job descriptions that are there but I understand there is really nowhere on any of the sights to look at job descriptions in general. That's why I would like input from some people who work there now.

I think it depends on what type of job you are applying for. I went to Casting a couple years back because I was retiring and wanted part time work as a bus driver. I have years of experience driving 40+ foot buses for a municipality. I was told that they are always looking for drivers, BUT, I had to have a Florida address before they would even look at an application. I believe that they just have gotten burnt many times by people that said they wanted a job there, and Disney went through the motions only to have the individual decide that they weren't going to be able to make the move.

If it's just a general job search, then you are in a competitive area because there are many, many people that want to do the same thing that you want to do. If you are mature and dependable, I'm sure they will find a place for you, but, there is a lot of competition out there.

you apply like everyone else but you are looking to be seasonal. You will have to work 150 hours a year. you have less benefits then a part time person. the thing with seasonal is that is some roles if you are gone more than 30 days you have to get re-certified ( driving roles such as parking or the ferries or monorails). And you do not have to have a Florida address. I know several seasonals who have Illinois or new york addresses. They live in their RV for the few months they are here.

Thanks, would any of the people you know, that are seasonal, use this forum and if so could you show them/refer this to them? Would love to ask questions about things like rv parks.

Seasonals are mostly gone right now from my areas. If I happen to see any of them around I will ask which parks they are in.
