Retail Shops

Hello Everyone,

I am visiting WDW next month and was wondering if you could help me something.
I'm starting to plan our park visits and may have to cut one park out (probably DAK)

I was wondering if there are any unique stores located throughout WDW where I would not be able to find certain merchandise at other retail stores for example the world of disney in DTD.

The only one I can think of off the top of my head is the chapeau at MK (pardon the pun).

I appreciate everyone's help and enjoy the rest of your day.

All of the countries represented in Epcot at World Showcase are very different.

Word of warning: you're going to get some heated discussion on this thread because many people (myself included) are upset about the lack of uniqueness in the stores.

Disney's stores, by in large, sell the same merchandise all around. Some stores have more merchandise than others (i.e., Mouse Gear vs the Port of Entry shops). But, even the chapeau isn't unique. Ears are sold all over the place.

The only stores that I can think of off the top of my head that are actually unique are the stores in the World Showcase and the Christmas stores. But, even the Christmas stores repeat their merchandise selections in each store (i.e., Christmas store in Liberty Square has the same stuff as the one in HS). Another possibility is if your hotel is a DVC hotel, then they probably have some shirts or other merchandise related to that. The WL has shirts and stuff related to its DVC-aspect, and I assume other DVC hotels do, too. The only other thing I can think of is certain attractions have attraction-specific merchandise in their attached gift shops that you probably can't find anywhere but there (i.e., figment ride, nemo ride, star wars ride, splash mountain, POTC, etc.)

There are a variety of "different" stores all around the parks such as Art, ride specific merchandise, candy, country specific items at EPCOT, Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe, etc.

The biggest shame is that Main Street in MK has turned into a mall.

I think they just need to cut some of the shopping out, but they won't. It's high margin.

I have always had luck at:

MK - Agrabah Bazaar, Bwana Bob's, Crow's Nest (gift shop at Pirates of the Carribean), Zanzibar Shell Co., also the store you exit into at Space Mt. and the one next to Country Bear Jam.

Epcot - World Showcase features some of the best shopping on property

DHS - AFI Showcase Shop, Stage 1 Company Store, Villians in Vogue

DAK - Mobassa Market Place, and a small store just outside of Yak & Yeti Local Foods though I don't know the name

DTD - Art of Disney, Disney Days of Christmas, Trend D

Resorts - Basin White & the other stores found at the Grand Floridian, Bayview Gifts (CR), Boutiki (Poly), Panchito's (CSR), Screen Door General Store (BWR), Zawadi Marketplace (AKL), the stores at the Dolphin & Swan resorts also have some great finds.

I definately want to check out the new co-op...have seen some very cool looking merchandise from various posts. But I agree that the WS shops offer some really cool stuff. I love taking a picture by the huge troll at the Puffin's Roost in Norway. But what can I say, I am easily amused. :)
