Hey folks... My mother is in town for a few days to visit me... and that means... I get to eat at nice restaurants for a change... no more mac & cheese, ramen, and peanut butter sandwiches for meeeee... lol
Anyways, we went to Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge tonight. We got there a little bit early, so that we could wander around and check out the place. Absolutly beautiful resort. Disney did very well with this one here.
I was a little nervous about the food selection... I'm a basic kinda guy, not really big on spicy, or extravagent food... The good thing about Boma is that it's a buffet... so that you can grab a little bit of everything, and sample it... and then go back and get more of what you really like...
The menu changes on a daily basis... for tonight, they had a prime rib which was so tender and juicy... very good... and then an african marinated steak... one of the best steaks I've ever had. The chicken was good... not sure what kind it was, but it wasnt anything to rave about, but it was good. I'm not really big on fish, but they also had a salmon dish that was delicious! They also had a bunch of side dishes which included potato dishes, couscous, vegatables, and 10 different salads. For those of you that are vegetarians, they had plenty of wonderful dishes to accomodate.
In addition to all that, they had a fruit bar that was incredible. I have never tasted such fresh, ripe, fruit... melted in my mouth.
The deserts were equally tasty... They had a whole bunch of mini-deserts... some rich, some creamy, but all delicious.
For those with kids who are picky eaters, they had a "basic" food section with chicken fingers, fries, spaghetti and meatballs, macaroni and cheese...
The setting was beautiful. We sat at a window table, overlooking some vegetation, and the pool. The one complaint I had was weaving through tables to get up to the buffet... but that really wasn't a problem once I figured out my route.
Another detail I'd like to mention... to most, it's probably no big deal, but it was to me... When I went to the restroom to wash my hands, the sinks amazed me. You know how at most restaurants, the faucet is too low, and too close to the wall of the sink, so that you have to bump your hands against the porcelain to wash them. And that is, if you can get the off-temperature low-pressure water to turn on, and stay on. I hate those sensors.
Well... these sinks, the faucet was high up, and moved forward away from the back of the sink. The faucet turned on easily... and STAYED on... and... it had good pressure, and was the perfect temperature. Okay, so maybe the faucet wasn't worth two paragraphs... but, it's little details like that, that impress me.
At any rate... in summary... our server was very friendly, my drinks were always filled, the food was AMAZING... I highly recommend checking this place out!! Right now, I am SOOOO stuffed... I recommend going on a completely empty stomach... you'll need all the room you can get to sample everything!!
