Resort Questions

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone for being so helpful. But here is my question. If I stay at a value resort can I wonder to the more expensive resorts for lunch(breakfast or dinner), or to ride the monorail or the boat, or any other activities available to the resort?

Another question, I saw somewhere I could buy some things like costumes or plush toys and take them on the trip instead of buying them at the park. What are some things you would recommend doing that with? Can I purchase the Mickey ears anywhere other than at the park?

Of course you can go eat and use monorail, boats, etc. Now doing other special activities offered to hotel guests specifically no (like special kids activities) and no you cannot use their pools and such either. The dining, looking around resorts, using transportation is not a problem though. :)

Thanks, I really wasn't trying to go get in another resorts pool. But we ordered a DVD to start planing for the trip and I saw other resorts have like tricycle or some kind of cart to just go around the resort and enjoy the day out of the park. That's the kind of activity I was talking about, even if you must may extra.

Your welcome! I did not know if you meant the pools or not so I just threw that in there. Lol
I'm pretty sure you can do those things but i would call the resorts and ask yo be sure. I do not want to tell you the wrong thing. :)

We love to resort hop and visit all the different shops/ enjoy the scenery! The Boardwalk is full of entertainment. You can rent surreys there and ride around area. There are also some cool shops and the Bakery. Also, take the time to visit on of the Lodges, they are beautiful.

I suggest buy Disney pens and autograph books outside of the parks or before you go. I have hit outlets and found this stuff cheaper. The dollar store and target are also good stops. We have found all sorts of Disney items for cheap such as cups (you can refill at water fountains), pens, stickers etc. This saves you money because this stuff is expensive once you are in the parks.

We love to resort hop especially when the Christmas decorations are up. Many times we will make breakfast reservations at Kona Cafe at Poly for late morning. Start in MK at open, have nice breakfast and monorail back to the park. One could almost make a trip out of just touring the resorts.

Some (most) of the best restaurants are within the "monorail" Resorts. Places like Chef Mickey's, Ohanas, or 1900 Park Fare are great for the kids - characters/entertainment. There are also great places for adults too (can't comment on those though..:rolleyes:mom)

Plus the monorail is basically another ride for the kids. It's really nice to leave the parks via the monorail, get a bite to eat, relax, explore, then head back to the parks for night.

beach+yacht club check magic bands for pool entrance to keep people from outside the resort from getting in..

Art of animation did the same thing when we were there. I expect this to be the norm for all parks. Though at the art it wasn't that hard to get in without one. the band only opened the gate to the pool. you could easily walk in with someone else. I have gone to other resorts in the past, and while we did have friends staying there at the time, there was never a problem if we went to the pool without our friends who were staying there. Once you get onto the property there isn't anyone checking to see who is and who is not a guest. Even at the top notch hotels like the GF.
