Resort Mugs Reuses?

I'm sure most of us have done it at some point. Reused a resort mug you bought on a different trip. Before anyone starts up, yes I know $12 is not alot to pay for a new one, but I just can't see myself buying another if I know I can probably get away with using the old one.

My question is, How many times have you reused your resort mug? I personally don't like to push it with things like this, so I'm contemplating buying another set. I think I've only re-used these particular ones 4 times.

So again how many times have you used an old mug on a new trip?

We are a family of three, so I ususally bring the best looking of the two and buy one new one to ease my guilty conscience. I'm not sure how many times I've actually re-used with this method. I have seen people use really old ones, with designs from 7 or 8 years ago. This year, I'll buy all new ones, since we are staying at a different resort.

I never quit using mine. Seriously. I take mine with me everywhere. To Taco Bell. To my family reunion. To bars. To the Red Lobster. I will only drink liquids out of my mug. Heck, sometimes I'll put Little Debbie snacks in there. And if anyone questions my usage, I hit them with my mug.

I never reuse them as you are not suppose to. I am not judging you for reusing yours, I am just saying I don't do it. I usually sell mine though when I get back on ebay and recoup about 1/2 my mug money back. I keep the cool ones, but the last few trips the designs have not been to my liking.

Do a quick search and you'll find several threads like this. In the end, they usually end up with arguments over whether it's right or wrong. Some people seem to have extreme feelings on this issue.

I buy new ones every year. I end up saving a good amount of money each year so it doesn't bother me if I have to buy a new one. I think I saved over $20 last year!

I brought my Contemporary mug back and used it a year later. They were still selling the same mug, so it wasn't so bad. I saw people using the old silver mugs, however, and no one said anything. If I stay at the same resort, I'll bring my mug and use it if the design hasn't changed. If it has, I'll buy the new one because a) I collect them, and b) I don't want to get looks / get yelled at. I use them at home all the time. Contemporary, Polynesian, and Caribbean Beach. :D

I think that's the way to do it. I don't have a problem using it at the same resort if the design hasn't changed. But, I do feel a little uneasy about using it at a different resort or at the same resort once the design has changed. Since we always stay a week or longer anyway, buying a new mug really is a good deal.

I definitely wouldn't use the mug at a different resort or if it had an old design, but if its the same exact mug, why buy another. Especially since I never get my mug worth, maybe two refills the whole week. I know thats terrible, still trying to figure out why I buy them. lol

I do the same. I've got a set of mugs for every resort I've stayed at. But I have to agree with the other people on here. If the mug hasn't changed, why buy a new one? Now if it has, I'll be the new one right away.

It clearly states on the current mugs "Free refills until the end of you stay"
and "Refills only good at location purchased".

If you choose to use it on another trip or at another location, you are in basic terms, stealing services. Which would be unethical.

Regardless of how cheap the drinks are, if enough people abuse this service, it may cease. If i recall correctly, back in 1999, the mugs were only $5.99. So, in five years they've really gone up. So, wouldn't it be better to look at the mug as a souvenier and drink your fair share during you visit?

We always buy new mugs each year. I believe that is stealing from WDW and I would much rather receive a blessing from God for having integrity then a few free drinks. I am not condeming anyone, just stating what I do :o
