Resort Hopping

I know its been discussed before but it slipped my banana peel of a brain. How does resort hopping work? Do you have to check in at each new resort? Or just the first one? I'm assuming that the staff takes care of moving your bags? How about sending purchases to the resort? Which do you choose? If you're driving, do you park at the first resort or the last?

here's the deal...we're going to the contemporary in June (our favourite), but its booked for the first night (don't worry, i PLAN to keep trying) but we were thinking of doing the GF the first night...but only if its not too much of a pain...

Anybody done this? Help!

Our family did something like that a couple of years ago. For the first half of our trip we stayed in Port Orleans, and then we switched to Caribbean Beach. From what I remember you just go to your first hotel, check-in and stay and park there until it's time to move. Since we were staying at another Disney resort, the hotels moved our luggage for us complimentary to the next hotel. I'm pretty sure we had to physically check-in to the second resort because we needed to get a new room key/card and a new parking pass.

We resort hop every time, Disney makes it easy. Pack the bags, call the bellman and tell them your next stop. Go to the next hotel early, checkin to get the room location you want (your room will probably not be ready yet), leave the car(if you have one) and go to the parks. You can stop back in late afternoon, by then the room is ready and the bags have arrived.

We generally stay at 3 resorts every trip, 3 or 4 nights per resort. Sounds like a hassle but it's not at all. We have almost been to them all. Would have by now except we keep going back to W-Lodge, our favorite.

If you have an Unlimited Park Hopper at the first hotel, it will not transfer to the second hotel. Some have reported that their UPH's overlapped on the day they moved (in essence they paid twice for that day). Others have reported that Disney let them drop the first day of their second UPH.
Confused?

Thanks for your input everybody...i was kind of hoping to avoid having to check in each time. The whole process (except for the CMs moving the baggage) just seems like i would be wasting valuable park time.
