Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
Still there nothing has changed just they don't work 24 hours (never did that I have seen) so if it was in the later evening it could be they were gone for the day. Or could of stepped away to do something perhaps. :)

Hmm we got here around 5....nobody at the concierge desk. Maybe they stepped away or were in a meeting

Yeah they probably just stepped away for something then. I have seen that happen before and they were back later when we went down again. Sometimes the concierge has to help the regular front desk too so one of them may have been the concierge. Plus usually the front desk can do most of what the concierge can as well if need be. :)

No I actually asked this morning because the concierge counter still unmanned. There is no more separate concierge at GF. The front desk now handles concierge services. I must say, the young lady that did my check in yesterday was awesome making some FP changes for us.

Well I guess that makes sense being most front desk clerks can do anything the concierge can anyway. Thanks for the new info about GF. :)

Convenient for Disney, but not convenient for the customer. If I need a quick answer or service from the Concierge, I don't expect to have to wait in line behind a half dozen people checking in. While some desk clerks can do some tasks, I can tell your from experience.there are many tasks that do not fall under their authority. Granted all Concierge were once front desk clerks.

They as stated are all able to now do concierge services at GF being there is no dedicated concierge at GF anymore. I'm sure from now on unlike the past, all will have the authority to do any request or need at GF. Plus with many doing online check in and the direct to room option now the lines have not nearly been as long in our recent experiences.
Also In my experience concierges were not always readily available and when they were we usually had a line anyway to wait in for them. Lol :)

Well, I certainly hope they have educated and updated their Front Desk staff at the GF. On our trip last July, the Front Desk personnel were unable to perform general front desk services, like correctly link a credit card to our bands, assign the correct room to our bands, etc. It took the Concierge Supervisor to correct both issues. At the GF I never saw a time were at least one Concierge was not available, during reasonable hours. Yes, there was sometimes a wait, but whatever issue I had was usually resolved quickly.

Hopefully, it will go smoothly, but as most reductions in service go in any business, I'm skeptical until I see it in practice.
