Requesting a room

Please remind me: (I've done this before, but want to make sure I do it right.) How do I go about requesting a room?

If I remember correctly, five days from arrival I fax a letter addressed to "Room Assignor" and request the type of room I would like. Is that correct?

For those who have done this, what to you put in your letter? Is it worth mentioned that I go to WDW every year?

The only thing I did was put the date we were arriving and the room request. I also faxed a copy of my trip iterary(sp).

Its 4 days. If you send it too early, they'll just file it and possibly foget about it.

It's good to be friendly, VERY friendly and appreciative. They have no obligation to meet any of your requests, but if you're nice and they can, they will.

Don't get too specific unless you have REAL reason. Like, don't ask for room 2219, unless you tell them why (ie. because I Honeymooned in that room).

You can request Non-Smoking, but make sure to tell them you have asthma and/or allergies, then it's guaranteed non-smoking :D

Don't ASK to be upgraded to a better room for free. That's like begging and nobody likes that.

It would be just fine to say something like "We've been there X times and love the resort. We'd really appreciate it if we could have a non-smoking room, due to my severe allergies. We would also like to be in the X buildings, because we love the scenery in that area, and its close to the main building, where we spend a lot of time. Thank you in advance for your consideration and we look forward to our arrival!"

I'm sending my room request in 12 days for our June 5 arrival!!! :sohappy:

Well, I really do have asthma, so I will definitely use that one. The thought of spending a week in a smoking room would ruin our vacation (just as the opposite would probably do for those who smoke). So basically, 5 months is too early? ? ? ? ? ? ?

It's been said, I'm sure, but for CBR - what is a good building for a family with two kids (Girls ages 6 and 9)?

Thanks

Thank you so much for this information. I also have asthma, allergies and definately need to have a non-smoking room. I just can't imagine having a smoking room during our stay. UGH.

Have a magical day.

When making our reservations a few weeks ago, I requested a non-smoking room due to my husband & daughter's asthma, and I was informed that we would be guaranteed a non-smoking room because of health reasons. So make your request when you make your reservations or if you already have, you may want to call back.

I have made requests for a location via FAX before our trips, and have always gotten what we have requested. I do not get very specific or demanding. I mention how many times we have stayed at the WL & how much we love it and that we would like a room facing the MK on the 4th floor or higher. That leaves a lot of room choices and we have been lucky to always get a room with a view of the castle.

I actually do have bad allergies, and am very sensitive to smoke, now that I live on my own and not my dad's chimney -er, I mean house.

Yeah, the smoking request needs to be made when you book - my reservation says GUARANTEED NON-SMOKING. Disney is good about cleaning their rooms, but we stayed in a hotel once where the blanket and the whole room reeked of smoke!

It's not really a good idea to fax your room requests. The various Disney resorts don't really enjoy getting all these silly faxes. You should make room requests at the time you book your reservation.

I can advise you that many room request faxes sent to the resorts end up in the break room. CM's get a laugh out of the outlandish requests! The Wilderness Lodge officially no longer accepts room request faxes and the other Disney resorts are doing the same.
