Hi, does anyone have any higher resolution/larger pictures of the magic Kingdom lightpole sign (1776-1976) and flag banner under it?? All the ones I have located thus far are small and difficult to see when enlarged.

Anyone have any info/history regarding these signs?

Anyways I remember these signs, the parade, etc ... when i was there in 1976..... was a really amazing time to be at The Magic Kingdom!

Thank you in advance for any pictures or help.

yeah its still very small... really need a much clearer look at the flag underneath at the Magic Kingdom.....

I had been researching this online too and interestingly the Disneyland flag and the Magic Kingdom flags are definitely different in appearance... Disneyland seems to have multiple stripes where as the Magic Kingdom seems to have less.... also the numbers on the sign are blue for DL and white for the Magic Kingdom.

We were also there in 1976! I'll have to look through old photos but don't think our pics will be any better. I know we videoed the parade, and I bought a coffee table book of all things Disney. I believe patriot Mickey, Donald and Goofy are on the cover. I need to find these!

You might want to check with @ExtinctJenn or look on the Yesterland site. Good luck in your search.
Thanks for the plug! I have a few shots from the 1976 period but none have the banner any larger than those shared earlier. The thing to remember is back then folks rarely took up close shots of decorations like that simply because every picture you took was one less on your roll of film. LOL! :D If you'd like to look through what I have from '76 though, here's a link to my album on Photobucket for that year... http://s55.photobucket.com/user/bamajen/library/Disney of Old/1976

yeah...I guess I simply hope someone has a very high resolution scan of a picture that happens to have the banner and flag in it so when I zoom in on it that I can make out the details.

LOL I remember those days of fumbling with film and everything.... never knowing if the photo you just took even came out correctly... that was not the funnest lol

Question: Anyone "in the know" have any idea if the actual fabric flag banner the sign is covering the top of has a circular pattern of stars on top with a single star in the center? You can see one pic of this without the sign at bottom.

Here are some really decent pics....left large sized since seeing the sign and banner was the point of the post.

Is This banner pictured below the one that the sign in the pics above is covering? My instinct tells me yes... but does anyone know for certain?

I was there in '76 as well. What a great parade! I still have the record of it (nothing to play it on; I keep it for sentimental reasons). I have the pictures that my mom took but they are poor quality. Thanks to everyone for posting the pictures; they bring back happy memories.

That is an impressive parade. Wish I could have seen it.

I wanted to bring this up..This was screen grab I Took from the TV Special Disney's America On Parade with Red Skeleton. They do show a different banner than the one with the circular stars but one with 4 stars in a line..It looks like the one shown on the picture you have that's shown on the far right below the shield...

Fascinating.... Originally I thought it was a horizontal line of stars but then after seeing osme other pictures I thought perhaps it was the round banner slightly distorted by the way they placed it.... but now I am wondering if my original theory was the correct one after all (four horizontal stars).

Either way though, actually having the shield part of the sign is pretty amazing to me at least..... I will try to take some more pictures of the sign and post them sometime here in the near future.....

Any one have a definitive answer to WHAT the actual banner underneath the sign was at WDW?

Also does anyone know if the banner with the four stars is a "standard" banner that could be bought today since it was likely NOT a Disney creation?

You can always contact the Walt Disney Archives..I've asked a question about a piece of artwork I have and they seemed to be pretty helpful on asking my question..Just show them the picture of your shield and ask what banners they used. They probably have a bigger resource of information..

There email is.. Disney.Archives@disney.com

Hope to hear what happens soon. Good Luck!

Ill do that...

EDIT: I sent them an email. ;)
