Here is a tantalizing tidbit of tasty news from The Orlando Sentinel:

April 8, 2008

"E-Brands, the multi-concept Orlando based restaurant group, will launch its newest location and concept at Walt Disney World in 2009. The eatery will feature authentic Central and South American cuisine, specialty tequilas, premium wines and live music.

"We're thrilled to have the opportunity to build upon our portfolio of 15 successful restaurants across the country -- including such brands as Timpano and Samba Room -- and our 25-year relationship with Walt Disney World Resort," said Rashid Choufani, CEO/Owner of E-Brands Restaurants and operator of Epcot's Morocco Pavilion. "We look forward to sharing our unique dining experience with Walt Disney World guests from around the globe.

E-Brands Restaurants newest concept will come to life with a boldly colored hacienda-style interior featuring rustic beams that contrast against modern fixtures, stone floors and windows that open to create an open-air environment. The 5,000-square-foot, two-story facility will have a tequila bar and outdoor seating along Village Lake.

No name has been announced for the new waterside eatery, but I love the diverse elements the company is promising and who can lose with waterside dining and premium tequila!"

So should we hang up those hula hoops and get the mambo groove on?

It's good to hear some news on that front, I have to say I will probably have zero interest in that cuisine, though.

dont they have bongos cuban cafe

Cuban cuisine and Central & South American cuisine are very, very different.

But Central and South America is a major area to try to boil down to a single menu. The mix of indigenous dishes as well as those introduced via trade routes and immigration should make for quite an interesting menu. Should be interesting!

Huh?

Soon everyone will praise the changes at DD. This sounds like a great addition to the island. Give it 5 years and the whole place will be awesome.

Bwwwaaaaaahhh!!!
Yeah, Right!
IF it gets better, it'll take more than 5 years...

I guess I should have qualified my statement. IF you like club hopping you won't want to go anywhere near DD in 5 years. But IF you want an area that offers great dining choices and family entertainment as only Disney can do it then Downtown Disney will be the place to be. By the way, I believe this is the future of all dining/entertainment. An area with something for everyone. The first time I experienced anything like it was at Westminster Promenade near Denver ( http://www.thewestminsterpromenade.com/ an awesome concept!). So if anyone has been there, Disney is following that model but on a much much bigger scale. Very good news indeed! :)

Wonder if this will have any impact on the high end tequila bar idea for the Mexico Pavilion? Either way, we always look forward to restaurants with this type of theming and food. :slurp: Thanks for the info.

A few shots of premium tequilla + Adventurer's Club = AWESOME!

But then again, Adventurer's Club = AWESOME!, so maybe the tequilla = 0?

Hmm, must do some research.

I'm sure it will be losing that name eventually (sooner than later). Sorry but Downtown Disney portion has proven without a doubt that the crowds prefer that form of family shopping, eating and entertainment. The dance clubs of PI are soon to be changed over to new facilties. That includes all of them despite rumors to the contrary.

Sadly, I think you could be correct. With no place having any live bands, the night clubs era is fading away.
I do disagree on Disney believing they need to make PI more family friendly. There needs to be a place adults can unwind without the kids. Afterall, when I go down with the family, it's MY vacation too, and after a day with the kids at the parks, I want to go somewhere with the wife and not have to deal with kids.
One of my best memories was sitting in the Jazz Club, smoking a Fuente, drinking Jack's Single Barrel, and listening to some great sax.

what about reading the entire thread? :hammer: sheesh, "southern restaurant?" :ROFLOL:
yes. You didn't know that South American food is identical to everything served in Central America, the Caribbean, and the American South? And you thought globalization was a new concept...
