Renting a Car

For our trip in October, we are flying into Tampa, Fl for a One Direction concert (DD and her DBFF), then driving to WDW to stay at POP Century after the concert. We will be flying out of Sanford, FL instead of returning to Tampa three days later. My question is, can we rent a car at the Tampa airport and return it somewhere on property as we won't need it while there. We can get a shuttle to the Sanford airport. Any help is welcomed! Keeping the car the entire time would be a waste of money since it would sit in the parking lot of the resort. Incidentally, we have 15 days until our Spring Break trip to POR!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a question only your rental agency can answer. We fly into Orlando rent a car and then drop it off in Tampa on the way home after visiting family, but those are both considered major airports.

National and Alamo have rental desks at the Swan and Dolphin so that may be a possibility for you.

Yes, you want to look at 'one way rentals' - be aware tho that the rates for one-way rentals tend to be significantly higher than return to pickup point rentals. Where you drop-off is also a factor. You're best bet is to just call the rental company and tell them what you are looking to do, and just price out which alternative (including other costs like the shuttle) and see which works better for you.

+1. In addition to the National and Alamo desks, Hertz has a Local Edition on 192 right near the entrance to WDW. They do run a shuttle - you just have to ask for a ride back to your resort.

Couldn't you just tell Disney you are flying into Orlando and then after the concert return the car to MCO and then take the DME from the Airport to POP! Century? Or at least have the Hubby drop you off at POP or DTD and then he take the car to MCO and then DME to POP.

Then you would still be returning to a Major Airport.
