Rental Car ?

We are thinking of planning a quick trip to the World the beginning of May. We would like to rent a car for only one day of our trip to drive to the ocean. Is there any place on site to do this? Is it easy? Or should we rent the car for the entire trip? Thanks for the help!

I know there is a place to rent on site but I don't know a whole lot about it. We are planning on doing the same thing in early March, but I haven't had a chance to research it yet. I'm sure some of the veterans on here will be able to share some good info though.

There is the disney car care Center and there is a rental place in the Hilton by DTD. We have used both.

The disneys car care Center has a shuttle that will pick you up at your resort and transport you to the car care Center, and then when you drop the car off it will take you where you want on disney property.

At the Hilton there is no shuttle but it is within walking distance of the marketplace at DTD!

I should mention the first time we only had the car for one full day and used it to go the the mall..and the second time we had the car for 3 days to go shopping, universal and ioa.. No need to pay for longer then you need it!

To expand on the above:

There is an Alamo/National counter at both the Car Car Center and the Dolphin. If you're looking to get an early start, the CCC is your better option as it opens earlier. (I think it's 6am, though the shuttle service doesn't start until 7am). Dolphin opens at 8am, though if you're at one of the Crescent Lake resorts it might be worth waiting for the convenience.

Also note that at some point the CCC shuttle stops, so if you're thinking about dropping off after-hours you might want to consider having the drop-off be at the Dolphin. Depending on how late it is you can go to Epcot or the Studios for a few hours, or it's easy enough to grab a bus to Downtown Disney or a taxi back to your hotel from the Dolphin.

If you prefer another rental company, most of the other major companies (Avis, Dollar, Budget) have a desk at one of the Hotel Plaza Blvd hotels. And most, if not all, have shuttles that can pick you up. Enterprise is nearby and will pick you up, but it's off-site and thus will require more travel time for pickup and drop-off.
