This will be my first time renting a car and I got a rate of 297.27 for full size car from National for 11 days. Is this a good rate?

Decent rate. Not great. Depends on your loyalty to National.

I got a week for $186 taxes and fees included thru Payless and it was during spring break.

If you want to see how the companies compete, log onto Travelocity or Orbitz and punch up the Orlando area rent-a-car rates. I did this prior to our trip and was amazed at the price differences from company to company. The more nationally known companies seemed to have the higher rates.

I went with Payless to save money and was pleased by their service as well as the quality of the cars on their lot--all new vehicles, mostly American made.

So, yes. You can find a much better rate if you're willing to look for it.

Did you book thru National's website? If not, go there quick and check it out. When we went 2 years ago, I did a lot of checking on car rentals and found out that it was a whole lot cheaper to use their website. Not only do they discount for using the website, but if you have other national car rental discounts you can use them too.

That's a great rate for 11 days. I think If you are an emerald club member or disney club member you could reserve a lower class car and still end up with the full size. That might lower your rate a little more.

Have fun...you're leaving on my B-day and I'll be out at sea on the Wonder:sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

Is that on site at the airport or will you need to be shuttled to their location ?
Off site rentals are always cheaper.
Try L&M car rentals. They are on site and seem to be very inexpensive. Has anyone dealt with them before ??

I know national and budget have cars that are right in the terminal - national is great - the counter is quick and you walk out of the building and pick your own car!!! $297 is good for 11 days.

We just got back and used the National Rental at Disneys Car Care Center....we only needed the van for three days time out of our ten days there...still what a hassle! The whole service was a nightmare. They had told me we could return before 6pm and I got there at 545 and they were shutting down and said they had already sent the bus driver home so if I wanted to return I would have to call a taxi. They told me to be there by 7am and I could be taken immediately back to my resort. So I had to return I was there at 645am they opened at 7am and the first bus they had for me was at 745am! needless to say we wont be using that service anymore.
