When I was young, I was visiting family in New York the summer that Disney’s creations were featured at the Worlds Fair. Afterward, the song “It’s a Small World” kept playing in my head and even followed me back to Miami.
I was really excited when I learned about the upcoming plans to build Disney World in Orlando and followed the progress religiously!
However, it was 1972– when I was 17– before actually had an opportunity to visit the park. Even after that, I was only able to arrange a couple of day trips and still hadn’t been to Epcot.
At 45, my husband and I stayed at the Yacht Club for first part of our honeymoon and I finally saw Epcot!!!!!
Because it was the year 2000, there were special celebrations and the opportunity to purchase a Leave a Legacy tile— the perfect way to celebrate the beginning of our life together.
Disney World gave us the opportunity to be childlike and we continued to visit— with and without the kids— as often as possible.
A few months after my husband passed away and COVID began ruling our lives, I lost all of our family photos and other items that documented our lives before and after we were married.
Then I remembered that I still have one memory that will always be there— our Leave a Legacy Tile. I’m hoping to get back to Epcot soon— to see our tile and hopefully find out how to get a copy of the picture and info so our kids will know that, even after I am gone too, they will always be able to find us at Epcot…..
