Reminders of WDW

I was curious to know what makes people think of WDW when they are not in WDW. For example, for myself, if I smell water that is inside a closed structure, you know that smell...

it reminds me of the smell that is on the water rides at WDW.

I also hear certain noises or sounds, and even smells that remind me of WDW, and usually WDW is the first thing that pops into my mind.

Just curious as to what everyone else thinks.

:)

I too get that water thing. Also the smell of certain foods like pop corn and such. Of course listening to disney music or websites, but mostly i'll just get nastalgic and think of fond memories for no good reason.

Actually, school has been making me think of WDW a lot lately. Like in my fine arts class we have been talking about the egyptians, greeks, romans, the renisance, and a feel like i am in a really slow moving, much less interesting Spaceship Earth. The seating, however, is of about the same quality, painful! Oh and in Radio/TV/Film we watched Singing in the Rain so I felt like I was in line for GMR!! I think i am one of the few people who's school day reminds them of Disney! (By the way I really do take hard classes)

when im at school, they have public buses that go around the campus. they are enviromentally safe busses. in the main street electrical parade, i believe right after the walking butterflies, they have the turtles with the glasses. they make that funny noise, i really dont know how to write it, but if you've seen it, you know what im talking about. thats the same noise the busses make when they round a corner. its so memorable, i start humming the tune after i hear it.
also, whenever i hear a car, truck, or school bus backing up, they make that beep-beep-beep noise. that noise reminds me of test track. i miss it already!

Now, dont laugh, but every time I hear Abba's "I Do, I Do, I Do", its 1976 again and I am in the backseat of the avacado green car that my parents rented, happily driving to MK from our offsite hotel, the Hilton Inn Gateway. I have NO idea why that song just takes me back to that time. Its such a happy memory :)

And I also have to agree with the water smell. What is it about that smell thats so Disney???

Whenever I see couples dressed identically. I think "shouldn't you two be at an amusement park?" Does that really help when they get separated? "Yes, I'm looking for my wife. She's wearing these exact same clothes." Also when I smell the "amusement park smell" which I realized one day is basically just popcorn smell and cigarette smoke mixed together.

Every day because my daughter is forever playing her Disney Mania CD and we first heard the music from it while at EPCOT for the morning character greeting time.

smells!

For me, its most definately the smells! I think Disney World has a smell all its own. I think its the palm trees, the water, the popcorn and ice cream, etc.... who knows! But it definately has a certain smell that always takes me back! :p

Hmmm...so many reminders, but a few that really stand out would be...

1) The resort room key I always keep in my wallet from my last trip, as a reminder that I will return to a happy place again someday!

2) Rice Krispy treats! Because we try to make it a tradition to get a giant mickey-head rice krispy treat to have as a snack on the way home.

3) Musty, old smells...as in my basement, remind my of the Haunted Mansion.

4) Listening to Aerosmith in the car! That immediately puts me back in the Rock 'n Rollercoaster!!

So many others, I'll list them later.:)

I play Tapestry Of Nations --- backwards -- hoping to hear some subliminal message ;)

In all seriousness, I'm always thinking about going back to Disney.

Oh the smell of busses!!!!!!!!!!! (even more so since from age 14 to 22 I took a bus trip to FLA and WDW every year from Michigan with a youth group.)

Cinniman pretzels, but they are always better from the cart near the carosel.

Pop tart toster pastry. We always get a box and eat one on the way to the bus every morning. We almost never eat them at home!!!!!!!!!

Anytime I see anything well done and creative inside I think (Oh how Disney of them.)

A mall near our house has a parking garage (Sommerest for you Michiganers) and as you enter a women is telling wellcome and to remember where you parked. It is bright and cheary and reminds me of going to WDW.

lildivaaa Welcome and I like your advater. We had an old Dixielanding one ourselves until someone "stole it". and we had to get a new one. We had scaned it off a tag we had from a Tshirt. I like yours better, where did you get it?

My avatar was a piece of clipart I happened upon one day at http://www.disneyclipart.com/

They have MANY, MANY clipart examples there...check'm out!
