Remember, Dreams Come True (Again, and Again, and Again...)

Inside sources tell me that Disney plans to continue the 50th fireworks show, Remember: Dreams Come True, beyond the 50th celebration. Is it just me, or is that a decidedly bad idea?

Everything I've heard is that it goes away this fall, followed by a Halloween show, followed by a Holiday show that may or may not be Believe Holiday version, and then a new show. This is from generally reliable sources from boards more focussed on DL.

Cheers.

It would definately not be a bad idea. Remeber, Dreams Come True is an awesome fireworks show and in my opinion blows Wishes out of the water.

That being said, I have read similar stories about Remember being replaced by a Halloween show, Christmas show, then uncertainty if it returns for the new year.

I think it would be a FANTASTIC idea. I'm pretty sure I'll be going to DLR for the first time next summer and I would love to see the show in person. It really does blow away any other fireworks show Disney has created and deserves to play much longer than the celebration allows.

Yes, Halloween is definitely going to be a thing, followed by an xmas show (does anyone know if it will be the old one?). But the 50th show is slated to continue after that. It's a great show - I watched it 2 nights in a row last week. But with DLR almost being 51, and the show being so 50th-centric, it just feels to me like beating a dead horse. Also, by extending it beyond the 50th celebration, it makes it a little less special. They have clearly stepped up their ability to stage an amazing pyro show, what with Believe, Wishes, and Remember. As Walt once said, "We can ill-afford to rest on our laurels..." After 18 months of Remember, I think it would be great to see something new and even more spectacular in 2007.

I was surprised that it wouldn't go for years, but word is that they want a show without the crowd control nightmares (seems it's not just that some spots are better, but that some spots are vastly superior) and without having to close attractions that have stuff launched from them. I won't see it until next month, and plan to do so at least 3 times based on all I've heard (I'm a sucker for pyro anyway).

This is from Al's update on miceage May 30:

"And that brings up an interesting topic; Disneyland once the 50th is over. The Remember fireworks are scheduled to run through the end of September, before they are replaced with a new Halloween-themed show to complement all of those new Halloween decorations we'd told you about in a previous update. In November the Halloween show is replaced with a new version of the Christmas themed show from a few years ago. And once we get to January, Disneyland may spend the winter without any fireworks at all as Steve Davison works on a replacement for Remember.

As for the Remember replacement, rumors in TDA are swirling that Greg Emmer, Senior VP of Operations, has thrown down the gauntlet and is demanding that any new fireworks show have a minimal impact on the park below it and not require shutting down up to eight different Fantasyland rides and multiple walkways as the current show does. The artistic types in Entertainment have a way of weaseling out of any commitments like that, so we'll have to see what they come up with next year.

But with the changes made to Pirates this year, the soundtrack for Remember is already even more historical. The pirate captains dialogue used in the show has been replaced by new Barbossa dialogue. The image of the animatronic pirate captain they show on the Small World façade will be out of style by late June. Even the classic "Remain Seated Please" tagline from the Matterhorn was changed in the last year by order of the humorless legal department who insisted they add "with your seatbelt fastened" to the original 1978 warning. When the show ends in September, there will have been enough changes to Disneyland in the previous sixteen months that even more of the attraction audio will no longer be relevant."

Cheers.

And this is from mouseplanet today:

The Remember… Dreams Come True fireworks show and Disney's Parade of Dreams will continue beyond the end of September as well, probably until at least the kick-off of the official Christmas season after Halloween. We've heard nothing reliable on the timeline for the return of Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln to the Opera House (we're going to assume it will return as everybody assured it would).

As always, nothing is really official until it really happens. At this point it looks like people with trips planned for late September and early October will be able to see the parade and fireworks contrary to earlier rumors of Halloween-themed replacements.

Cheers.
