I was surprised that it wouldn't go for years, but word is that they want a show without the crowd control nightmares (seems it's not just that some spots are better, but that some spots are vastly superior) and without having to close attractions that have stuff launched from them. I won't see it until next month, and plan to do so at least 3 times based on all I've heard (I'm a sucker for pyro anyway).
This is from Al's update on miceage May 30:
"And that brings up an interesting topic; Disneyland once the 50th is over. The Remember fireworks are scheduled to run through the end of September, before they are replaced with a new Halloween-themed show to complement all of those new Halloween decorations we'd told you about in a previous update. In November the Halloween show is replaced with a new version of the Christmas themed show from a few years ago. And once we get to January, Disneyland may spend the winter without any fireworks at all as Steve Davison works on a replacement for Remember.
As for the Remember replacement, rumors in TDA are swirling that Greg Emmer, Senior VP of Operations, has thrown down the gauntlet and is demanding that any new fireworks show have a minimal impact on the park below it and not require shutting down up to eight different Fantasyland rides and multiple walkways as the current show does. The artistic types in Entertainment have a way of weaseling out of any commitments like that, so we'll have to see what they come up with next year.
But with the changes made to Pirates this year, the soundtrack for Remember is already even more historical. The pirate captains dialogue used in the show has been replaced by new Barbossa dialogue. The image of the animatronic pirate captain they show on the Small World façade will be out of style by late June. Even the classic "Remain Seated Please" tagline from the Matterhorn was changed in the last year by order of the humorless legal department who insisted they add "with your seatbelt fastened" to the original 1978 warning. When the show ends in September, there will have been enough changes to Disneyland in the previous sixteen months that even more of the attraction audio will no longer be relevant."
Cheers.
