Remember and Parade of Dreams

Just went to DL as part of my vacation, and it was my first time. I must say I had no idea that it was going to be THAT different from WDW... but hardly ANYTHING is the same.

Let me get to the two things I want to discuss the most.. (other than watching the old MSEP, and nearly crying... LOL)

The Parade of Dreams is what a Disney parade is ALL ABOUT. I hope that after SADCT is gone from WDW, that we get something of this calibur. The floats are VERY detailed, the music was great, HUGE number of performers, and the animatronics on the floats almost looked like tiny characters. We watched the parade at 4, and then at 7:30 with all the lights on... and it was BEAUTIFUL! The pinocchio float had to be my favorite, with the life size dancing marionettes on the front, and the bungee jumping marionettes on the back... and i thought seeing tink would be awkward, but for some reason, it wasn't at all, it was a def. crowd pleaser!

okay, now on the the best show i've ever seen. The fireworks show, "Remember... Dreams Come True" is worth the admission price by itself. I NEVER EVER EVER EVER thought that anything could outdo Wishes!, but this show, IMO, blows Wishes out of the Seven Seas Lagoon. It was emotional to hear the Wishes! music as the intro, and then great to hear Julie Andrews narrate instead of Mr. Crickett. When the new part of the show started, my chin hit the ground. I stood there with my mouth wide open for the duration of the show. There is nothing comparable... and TINK IS THE COOLEST ADDITION TO ANY SHOW AT ANY DISNEY PARK! WDW HAS TO GET THIS NEW CONTRAPTION TO HELP TINK FLY! Tink blew my mind! Watching her literally fly UP AND DOWN, and BACK AND FORTH on several occasions was VERY MAGICAL. I caught myself (about to ruin magic...) actually believing that Ms. Bell was really up there flying around the castle. It was the coolest thing!

The show concept, of traveling around the park on the train is an EXCELLENT IDEA! My favorite part of Wishes! is the audience reaction after the show is over... and the PACKED OUT CROWDS (both nights) almost went into a riot over how great the show was. So many people were laughing, and just talking about the show, and many people were almost squwaling their eyes out... and all i could think was... DISNEY HAS DONE IT AGAIN. That's what a disney show is all about, pulling all emotional strings!

I only hope that WDW gets a fireworks show like this one day, but let DL have their glory for the 18 month celebration!

I have to agree with you 100%. The Parade of Dreams is awesome with excellent music and bright colorful floats. I like the Pinnochio and Mad Tea Party floats the best. Remember Dreams Come True was so much better than Wishes. The only thing that disappointed me about that was that they used Wishes music in the beginning and end. Don't get me wrong, I like Wishes but wished they would have come up with an original beginning. The show is fantastic. It was extremely packed when I saw it. I watched from the Hub, and still wasn't able to see everything from my angle.

This was my second visit to DL, and I think I can definately say that I enjoy DL over WDW's Magic Kingdom.

After seeing videos of the parade, I am simply amazed. WHAT A SHOW!!! :sohappy: I can't wait to see it in a couple months!! And like in a previous post, stated somewhere else on the board, I believe it was RU's article on the festivities taking place on the 5th....what really makes this parade is the show stops. They're wonderful and the "Welcome" song from Brother Bear fits perfectly, not to mention all the magic that happens during the stops. I'm kinda worried however b/c in yet another post on the board somewhere (sorry I can't find it) there were rumors already circling about cutting these from the parade- ALREADY!!!! Now I know something similar happened with Share A Dream...something about how they were too long. Can ANYONE shed some light on this. I'm going in August and would HATE to see a truncated version of this beautiful parade. :brick:

some of these floats were designed to WOW you during show stops... like the pinocchio float... so i don't see them taking them away. one thing different, which i like... the audience doesn't participate in the show stops, which allows the characters and performers to interact more with the audience on the sidelines, and doesn't take as long to get kids in and out... and... SAFETY!

Amen to that!!!!! It really takes too long sometimes, and in my opinion takes away from the parade. This way the characters still interact, but more efficiently and safely. I have friends who work at a paramount park and have to run their parade, with show stops and audience participation w/o any type of formal parade control. People walk in front of the floats CONSTANTLY! That's a lawsuit WAITING to happen.

i really wish they would bring our show stops back in florida, and run them like the parade of dreams... no audience participation, but to show off those floats and characters a little more! it adds more depth to the characters, instead of making them performers in the street, they are your personal friends that come to greet you! they were great to me!

So I have a question. I saw a vdieo of the parade and I saw the Lion King stop. are you telling me that every flot does soemthing like that, when it stops? Cause man, the lion King stop rocked my socks and its was only a little vdieo, not even a 1/4 of the computer moniter. So I guess my question would have to be, what do the other flots do?

The ones I can remember offhand:
Pinocchio - bungee routine
Little Mermaid - Ariel rises up
Alice in Wonderland - A trampoline act, was it?
Finale - Dncing w/ ribbons

I do not see the show stops leaving, the Parade was designed for the show stops. PLus to remove it would require the removal of the whole Walt loop - do you want to see a riot happen. ;)

The stops are awesome and make the Parade. The Parade takes 40-45 minutes to clear one end to the other, but the show in front of you, if you only get 1 stop, is 20 minutes.

The Stops:

Opening Float/Pan - Pan and others dance with ribbons
Beauty & the Beast - Beast gets funky with Belle, lots of dancing silverware
Pinocchio - Bungee jumpers - very very cool
Ariel/Ursela - Dancers and ball tossers
Alice - Trampoline - very very very cool
Lion King - Tree actually rises for the rope acrobats; extremely impressive
Finally - dancing in the street, ribbons

There is a lot more going on but that gives you a general feel.

Wow that all sounds pritty sweet. the Trampoline one sounds like lots of fun. and the beauty and the Beast one, but Im just a big sucker for Belle so that might have a little to do with it. But still it all looked cool on the computer so it must be even cooler in person.

whats the best location to sit for remember. i was told that the fireworks can be seen better from other spots than right at the front of the castle.

we stood on the castle side of the hub one night and on main street at the end (where casey's corner is at wdw) the next night, and both were excellent places. i recommend in the hub, we saw all effects there, ie., the lights on the matterhorn... BUT, the bad thing about being there, we didn't realize there were fireworks coming off of main street until the end of the show... and the haunted mansion stretching room effect with those fireworks are very cool!

I have purposely not watched any videos of the parade or fireworks so that they are a complete surprise when I go in two weeks, so forgive me if this is a dumb question.

Once I plant myself in a spot for the parade, will I get to see each float unit's parade stop? Or will it be more like every other one? Just trying to guage if I need to be scoping out spots to watch it on my second viewing so I get the ones I missed on the first viewing, or if you get them all each time.

HEY NICKY!

You will not be able to see all of the stops in one parade... if you are lucky, you might see two. We sat near City Hall one night, and were between the Alice and Lion King stops... not a great place honestly...
and for the next days parade we were on main street, across from where Casey's Corner would be... not a good spot for the first parade because of the sun, and we saw the show stop for the first and last floats... which are the two least impressive as far as float effects during a stop. i would sit somewhere closer to fantasyland... the best ones in my opinion during a stop would be alice, lion king and pinocchio... ask some CMs... they should tell you!

for remember, i LOVED the spot in the hub, closest to the castle... it was BEAUTIFUL! One word of caution. take some tape.... you will need it to keep your mouth closed, instead of gawking during the show! that was the best fireworks show I've ever seen, and the best show i've ever seen as far as that goes... on disney property (minus la nouba). I never thought anything would be Wishes, ROE and Fantasmic, but this did... all the way!

I know during the day, the Lion King float show stops in front of IASW. At night, I know it stops about halfway through the Hub. There's more than that, but I don't know off the top of my head where they are. :)

Show Stops for Parade of Dreams from Mouseplanet.com

First Performance: The parade begins near “it's a small world,” and heads to Main Street, making three show stops along the way. If you want to be in front of a specific float during the show stop, here are the approximate locations for each unit during the Main Street stop:
  • To see the lead float, grab a seat on the curb outside the Main Street Opera House
  • The Beauty and the Beast float stops in front of the Main Street train station
  • The Pinocchio float stops in front of City Hall, the “special effects” are on the rear of the float
  • The Little Mermaid “float” has two units. Ariel's section stops between the Emporium and the Main Street Fire Station, while the Ursula unit stops outside 20th Century Music
  • The Alice in Wonderland unit stops between the Market House and New Century Timepieces
  • The Lion King float stops between the China Closet and Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor. The west side of the street offers an excellent view of one of the arielists, the other is on the rear of the float
  • The finale float stops between Coke Corner and the Corn Dog Wagon

Second Performance:
  • Lead float – between Coke Corner and the Corn Dog Wagon
  • Beauty and the Beast float – between the China Closet and Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor
  • Pinocchio float – between the Market House and New Century Timepieces
  • Ariel float – outside 20th Century Music
  • Ursula section – in front of the Emporium / Fire Station
  • Alice in Wonderland unit – City Hall
  • Lion King float – in front of the Main Street train station
  • Finale float – outside the Main Street Opera House
