Rehire

So I know a lot of people ask this question but I'm in a weird situation. I went to WDW in 2010 for the CAREERSTART program and to be honest I was going through a lot of things in my life. I had just turned 19 and had no idea what I wanted to do with school, home or anything. I left the program when I had to deal with some hardships. My friend from home left the program and that same night we had the police in our apartment because my roommate was being stalked by her ex-boyfriend and they both left to stay with their friends and I had none because I was so close to my friend from home. I'm assuming I have a "No rehire" status with the company, even though I haven't called. I'm interested in applying through my school for the college program. And pleading that since I've held a job for a full year + some with perfect attendance that I will show how much more responsible I have become. From 18-21 there is a huge maturity gap and I know if I had the opportunity to show myself again. I gave up for a dumb reason and I won't allow myself to be in that position again. Any advice?

I just emailed recruiting and they said the earliest I can find out my rehire status is during a phone interview when they start accepting applications in September.

Call and check on your status, I wouldn't do anything until you find that out.
They don't give it over the phone. They make you go through the whole application process just to find out. It's a real pain in the ______ for those who have no intention of returning to Disney and only want to know what kind of reference they're going to get.

The email stated that I should know my rehire status based on how I left the company, and it also said that there is no way for me to find out other than applying in September and during my phone interview they will address it. Blah.

I believe the only way you get full rehire is if you give 2 weeks notice and resign while within transfer guidelines.

You more than likely have restricted rehire.
If you apply for the CP they'll give you some paperwork to do and ask for you to provide information showing that you've been at the same job for 6 months or more. You'll also have a chance to write a paragraph or two describing why you left the company and why you think you should be re-hired. You'll do an interview with someone at Casting and they'll submit your info as well as their opinion to a committe who'll decide whether to lift your rehire status.
I've been dealing with restricted rehire status because I apparently didn't meet transfer guidelines at the end of my CP. Pretty frustrating since I was neither terminated or quit. I sent off my paperwork and did a phone interview last week and I'm waiting to hear back. My interviewer sounded very optimistic and I sent in letters of recommendation as well.
I'll keep you posted on what I find out based on my own experiances.

This is the second time I've applied to have my status lifted. The first was within a year of finishing my CP and I'd had exactly 6 months at the same job, my request was denied. When I talked to them this time the casting agent told me I had a much better chance since I had a full of year of steady employment and it's been about 4 years since my CP.

They will not give out your rehire status as a "reference" to other employers. Actually Disney doesn't even verify employment anymore they have a third party company that does it. The only information a potential employer will be able to get is whether you worked there or not and during what time period.

I'm aware of the work number.... however, owing to my job and a security clearance, they required something a bit more than just that. And they got it.

Don't know how, but there are other ways.

Well there are always managers here or there that if a future employer hunts down will give a reference even though their not supposed to, but in general it's not worth the legal trouble Disney could find themselves in just to give another company information about a previous employee. It just doesn't make any business sense at all to incur risk for no gain whatsoever.

I didn't give any additional numbers, and having since seen my personnel record with my current employer, I know they asked a lot more than just those questions.

I've worked at the same job since I came home from the program (15 months ago) but now im inbetween jobs because of school scheduling. If I apply for Spring 2012 it will have been 2 years since I left. I also was on CareerStart and not the College Program so I'm hoping they will see that I know what I want to do in life. My fault, but it still bites it.
