Rehab clinic was my first thought too (maybe it is....? Some sort of synergy with F&W? I kid, I kid). And I didn't really mind the design so much. But yikes that's a bad name.

Exactly, that's a perfectly good name.

LOL! My wife said the same thing about a drug rehab facility when she heard it. If there was a survey for this, I cannot believe that this would have come out on top. It has not been well received.

No way anyone in Florida named this resort. Had to come from WDI offices in CA.

These are just in Florida. Look around elsewhere, there are literally dozens of addiction recovery/treatment centers that have "reflections" in the name.

Reflections of Recovery
Reflections Wellness Center
Reflections Treatment Center (closed due to fraud and mistreatment and it was national news)

Perfectly "Disney" names they could have used which would have been better...
Discovery Cove
Bay Lake Vistas
River Country Resort
The Villas at Bay Lake

Or, if we want to be real cheeky...
Walt's Lucky Strike Lodge

I think you're onto something! It's going to be a new "different" version of the Disney Institute. :)

I worry a bit for the families who think they have to buy the DVC for this, but I guess relapse is unfortunately common. :(

Perhaps they're starting the Disney Wellness Institute... why not branch into addiction recovery services, since there's so much upside in that sector right now?

Catching up on 7 month's of posts is fun.

I mean they could build a walking bridge from this new area they are building at river country to the island. That way no more transportation is needed. They could also have had something similar to the poly bungalows all the way around the island or the copper creek cabins.

That's a major waterway through fair for all boat traffic on Bay Lake heading to WL and Ft Wilderness.

Sweet fancy Moses... I just checked room rates. Sept. 10-16, 2018 for 2 adults. Cheapest is $120/night at AS-Music. FQ is $256/night. AoA? A cool $359/night. These are all standard rooms, by the way, and I tried to pick a "slower" time so as to find the cheapest rates possible. Going a little further out, to November 5-11, 2018 yields similar prices.

It's absurd. I know you have to allow for the on-site premium...but it's been so insanely high for the last 2 years, we've easily cut the amount of nights we used to stay on property down by 2/3. We would usually do 2 long weekends and one 5 night trip every year. How people are OK with spending the same price for ASM as you can pay for a Hilton room virtually anywhere is beyond me. The best deal on property in my opinion is (or was...not sure what the rates are now) was the Cabins at Ft Wilderness since they could accommodate 6 and were priced between $250-$325/night. Though they were better before they removed the murphy beds. Our last trip to WDW in Sept, we ended up just staying at the Embassy Suites. It only cost me $18/night (used Hilton Honors points) and you can still get your Mickey waffle fix at their free breakfast each morning.

Why can't they just use a small narrow gauge train to connect the two resorts?

Novel concept. Would be fantastic if they decided to truly link all 3 resorts.

I miss architecture-happy Eisner.

I miss Eisner for a lot of reasons. This is one of them.

I welcome another great resort but what is fixing the issue with the parks being so packed. You are adding more rooms which means more guests in the parks. Adding Star Wars will only bring the Disney buffs but also adding the Star Wars folks as well. I just got home yesterday from a week down there and the lines are insane for mid-October.

There has not really been any significant park expansions in terms of added space. When do they decide to buck up and spend domestically and add a 5th park to help move the guests around the property more. I understand it will bring additional guests with a new park, but also alieviate some of the pressure of the other parks.

I went to MNSSHP on Tuesday and in all of my years I have never seen the lines at a party like I did on Tuesday, for both rides and Trick or Treating. Space was 45-60 mins all night and the line was out the door. Usually it’s walk on. Trick or treat lines queued. Usually those were walk up. It felt like a normal ticket day. One of my co workers went last week and went on a Tuesday to the party and said she wished she had not spent the extra $500 for the party because the crowds were so insane.

I don't agree with you that they aren't expanding the parks. I would imagine that we're just about out of the attraction/guest space deficit that we had seen in early 2000s, or if we haven't, we will be once Star Wars land, GMR replacement, Guardians of the Galaxy, and other projects like Ratatouille and Tron are completed. I just don't think they're keeping up with demand and increased attendance from things such as TWDC acquiring both Star Wars and Marvel.

We moved to Texas 3 months ago, so we have pretty easy access to both US parks now. My wife and I have been to DL twice in the past 10 years but the kids have never been, so we were thinking about heading out there this winter. But with a price tag of $7k-$8k for a family of 4 to visit either one of the domestic resorts for a week, I can't help but rather spend the money taking my family on a real adventure. Or maybe save some money and do a Disney Cruise instead.

Lastly...I think the concept art looks terribly modern and exactly opposite of the rustic charm that WL and FW currently have. If they were looking to go opposite (which they probably were to attract a different group of people), then they succeeded.

I travel a decent amount (not road warrior status by any means but a lot compared to peers where I work), and I am getting so bored with hotel trends. Same color pallets. Same bedding. Same glass cube designs. Sad to see Disney fall into the trap. The expansion to the S&D is pathetic. This looks only slightly better.

Maybe it IS an addiction center of sorts. Other than addiction (or stupidity) why do we continue to pay higher and higher prices for less and less value?

I pray that one of the pools is made like the Upstream Plunge pool so we can always remember RC...

Or better yet, renovate the Upstream Plunge pool and dig in a new pool, and have that be the main pool for the hotel.

I'm assuming the same folks that Bay Lake Tower appeals to. Bay Lake gets a lot of love from people.
Only gets love from me because it's DVC and walking distance to MK. Nothing about it excites me. Contemporary is charming in every which way to me because it's exciting to look at and be in but BLT, nothing. I want to dump it but the parents want to dump WL instead.
