Refillable Mugs

I think the refillable mugs offered at the resorts are great. But......Im not complaining but it sure would be nice not to have to walk all the way back to the room to unload the mugs. Wouldnt be great if somewhere in a corner of the food court they could have a locker room of sorts for the mugs. The lockers could be really small. The most ppl you can have in most rooms is 5 so you should only have 5 mugs therefore a very small locker. They could be opened by the room key. Put a small sink and some soap to clean them out and away you go. Then at night when you return from the park ready to eat nobody has to walk to get the mugs. I wouldnt mind paying a little for this or it could even be incorporated into the cost of the mug.

I have the large & small style mugs from the WL from '96 and a few sets of the newer "cup holder" styles. I have Polynesian mugs from 2002.

This is the oldest one I have, it is from 1993. It has a different shape than the newer ones and I like the classic Mickey.

Thats a nice one & basically the same shape as the older WL ones, but its not tapered...chunky all around. (both large & small ones)
Though the style has changed the color/pic hasn't...beige with green trim & the WL logo.

The ones at Dixie kept changing the pictures as well as the top. The top had a thin rim. I liked this one much better. The ones we got lat time were not too bad. And I think I have the date wrong on this mug, I think it is is from 1994 or 95.

That is cool, MrToad. Did you find that picture somewhere or did you run to your kitchen and take a quick picture? I love it! I have never seen that one before. My oldest Dixie Landing mug is white with flowers all over it.

The mug wash stations are located right at the drink islands. Im not sure when the put them there but they are like wooden barrels with sinks in the tops. They actually make a HUGE MESS. kids spill the water all over the floor because sofar I havent seen anything to dry them off with. Now if they only had those lockers to but those clean mugs in.....Ha Ha .....I can always hope that one day disney will use one of wy many ideas......but I guess its not likely.

I ran and took a picture of it. I have a huge box of Disney stuff that I am unsure what to do with. I have started selling a bunch on eBay and sold all my other mugs as I really did not like them. I can't part with this one but my wife keeps putting it in the box as we have not cabinet space left. I use to have 2 of them but I regrettably loaned it to my father once when he was leaving and had a long drive ahead. I keep wanting to ask him for it but I am sure he has put it in the dishwasher over and over and it would be a mess and make me sad. So I just pretend it is all fine and dandy. :animwink:

I like this style much better. We have had ones with the Brer gang on it and the last one from this year was pretty cool. Since they are now POR and POFQ, they have one mug and one side had I think Mickey fishing on the river and accross the river on the other side was Donald playing music. Goofy might have been there too but I can't remember and, eBay it is gone...

BTW, staying at the WL the last week, I was easily able to decipher who had old mugs and who had the new ones. The new ones are only sold in the cupholder/travel mug compatible style. There were many people with the old bulky mugs going up and drinking for free. I even saw a kid with an old All-Star Sports mug. The shame of it is that Disney doesn't want to alienate guests so they don't say anything. Besides, the registers were always too backed-up for anyone to notice.

The new mugs also say "This mug is for unlimited refills for the duration of this stay only." (or something along those lines). But after the way they handled the group during the hurricane, I will be sure to re-use my mugs the upcoming trip but that is a completely different story...

Does that mean they handled things well or poorly? I was not sure. Thanks.

I felt things were not handled as well as they could have been. I am honest about the mugs and buy a new one each trip but will not this upcoming one, I am going to "recycle".

Let's just say that $10 for scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and chicken fingers in a styrofoam container (to be taken back to the room but was billed as a buffet) after the storm passed was not a way to win favor after demanding people to stay in their rooms for 6 hours. On top of charging $6 for a turkey or ham sandwich before 6 PM as the storm was approaching AND
after nearly every flight was cancelled, giving a hard time about extending the stay after arrangements were made prior to the storm with the desk staff.
I'm sure it could have been worse but it was Disney at their best making sure that they could get every last dollar from you since you were captive.

Last time I was at Disney, I asked for the refillable beer mug  When the guy behind the counter stopped laughing, he indicated that it's too bad they don't have them -- they would be a big seller.

You and my dad think alike...he wished the same thing on our last trip!

He and his friend even tried to get the girl in Germany to refill their half yard containers from the Rose & Crown....they were still willing to pay the price for the beer, they just wanted it to be in a more fun container.... :hammer:

two 40 year old men "country hopping" for beer in the world showcase...let's just say, it was interesting.... :lookaroun
