I might go to the RCID planning meeting at 9 am this Wednesday. Let me know if there’s anything specific I should look for.

I went to the RCID planning meeting today.

Long-term land use plan updated to allow:

- more hotel rooms
- two additional minor theme parks ("like water parks"-I asked)
- one additional major theme park

More soon.

For what it's worth:
  1. The original 2020 plan, adopted in 2010, allowed for 1 more major theme park and 2 more minor theme parks. (Page 2A-11, which is roughly page 31 in the PDF.)
  2. I think the 2020 plan was adopted as the 2032 plan via Item 6I in these meeting minutes from May 25, 2022.
  3. If that's the case, then these would be the new maximums:

    6 major theme parks
    7 minor theme parks
Oh, one more thing from the meeting: the new MK flyover should be open on February 1, 2023.

Since it’s Schmursday, will the next Disney Dish delve into 1) what would constitute a “minor theme park” for these purposes, and 2) in the absence of further context and information, which current WDW parks might constitute a “minor theme park”?

Likely something the size of the existing water parks.

.. also keep in mind that the things like "1 major park" listed in the planning document are not necessarily an indication that there is a plan to actually build it. These are limits used for planning purposes, it's basically saying that the details in the plan are designed to accommodate "1 major park". Here are the limits from the 2020 document:
