I found this on Mouseplanet....

Reminder: Those interested in the Reedy Creek fire stations can tour Station 1 (the brick-and-Dalmatian patterned buildings on Buena Vista Drive) between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. No appointment is necessary, unless your group is very large. Also, at Station 4 (the new station near the Saratoga Springs Resort with an entrance shaped like a firefighter's helmet and a fire hose fountain out front), "Protecting the Magic" T-shirts are available for purchase.

Can anyone please tell me how to get in touch with someone to order the shirt... I have lots of friends who are both firemen and Disney fans...

Thanks

I ordered my husband the shirt this summer, and he wore one day on our October trip--you would not beleive how many cast members asked him where he got it.

It's nice shirt and an easy way to support that fire department.

That is so great! What a fantastic way to get a "souvenir" and support a worthy organization at the same time. I had no idea about this before, but I'm liable to get a shirt myself.

Rcfd

I used to think that RCFD had the easiest gig because aside from the odd brush fire, there aren't too many things for them to do (compared to other FDs).

Then they responded to my locating because a refridgerator repairman released a small amount of gas from a unit which trigger the smoke detector.

It made me realize that RCFD probably responds to the more false alarms than any other FD on the planet.

Perhaps they should change their motto to "Patiently protecting the Magic."

Well, according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisneySpeak, there are at least 3 codes for a fire on Disney property... One for visible, one for invisible and there's even a specific code for trash can fires...

If there's a code for trash can fires specifically, I'd guess that that means that they aren't exactly rare :lookaroun

The things you learn on wikipedia!

Hello all, I am currently with the RCFD and can answer some of your questions.

All of our fire stations are accessible by any vehicle and not "back stage at the parks", although some are more hidden from view than others.

Station Tours are available at Station 1 (On Buena Vista Drive - it has dalmation spots)
Monday thru Friday 9-11:30 and 1-5 - No weekends or Holidays due to the call volume
Large group tours must be made in advance by contacting reedy creek fire station #1,

T-shirts can be purchased at Station 1 and Station 4 (by Downtown Disney)
You can also order online and have it shipped to your house by going to our website
www.reedycreek.org

As for not having much to do...
We got over 30,000 calls last year alone and have been getting busier every year. That's pretty impressive for 4 fire stations!! All of us are Firefighters and either EMTs or Paramedics.
Contrary to popular belief we do get fires, although the majority are vehicle and brush fires.

:)
