Recommendations for Polynesian??

Hi All:

The whole family is taking the Land/Cruise trip this November to celebrate my grandmother's 90th ( :sohappy: )... but they picked the Polynesian to stay in during the land portion. I've stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and tented at Fort Wilderness, but other than getting off the monorail once or twice have never really been to the Polynesian.

Are there any really cool things about the Polynesian that are must sees or really cool? For those that have stayed there... what did you think... what did you like... what didn't you like?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

The view of the water parde and fire works at MK is the best. Poly is a great hotel with a wonderful location.

One hint, sometimes it is faster just to walk to TTC to get to the monorail to epoct then to take the monorail all the way around.

I have only 2 complaints and I seem to keep saying them over and over, No hot tub (gasp) and no play ground for the kids. But the pool is great and you can take the monorail to Contepory and use the playground there if you feel the need.

We have stayed at the Polynesian 3 times in the last 12 months and probably at least 12 overall.
We can't say enough good things about this place. Our overall favorite family deluxe resort. You really didn't mention the ages of your group but these are the things we enjoy
1. Ease in transportation access. You will also notice if you use the Disney busses alot, the Polynesian has one of the closest bus stops at the parks etc.
2. As in the previous post, the fireworks view is fantastic
3. The on site Neverland Club if you have young kids
4. Total access to water sports (all types of boats, fishing trips etc.
5. Great access to quick food (Captain Cooks)
6. All the free on site activities such as for kids :arts and crafts and disney movies at the neverland club, free arcade challenge, free hula lessons and the torch lighting ceremony

The only thing we didn't like was leaving!!!
I know you can walk to the TTC, but it is a long hike after a long day in the park. If grandma needs a wheelchair just ask at the front desk, also if you need a handicapped room and fax your room request 3 days ahead as well as with your reservation. Have a great trip.

I stayed in Tokelau, regular garden wing room. The rooms are very big, you have plenty of room. The whole problem was the building I was really looking foward to staying in was Fiji, and it was closed for refurbishment, so I was a little ticked right off the bat......cause I knew I would never be staying here again! The best part of the Poly is the beach, especially during nightime. You can just sit and relax on the beach during the light parade or the MK fireworks. You get an overall great view from the Poly beach.

But, my place is in a Contemporary Room, they have the nicest rooms(in my opinion). I like the abstract, elaborate interior decor of the Contemporary rooms!

The same thing just happened to me, I guess we were there around the same time. I was at the Poly between July 20-24. I even called them about two weeks before and the said that the refurbs would be done by the time we got there. We went with Tokelau as well. The room was very big. It was funny because from the 24th to the 29th we stayed at the Grand Floridian and our room was smaller. Our room at the Poly was great, it was garden view but we could see the lagoon and part of the castle from it. If it wasnt for one palm tree we could have seen the whole thing! I love the Polynesian, and the GF is gorgeous.

LOL, we definately stayed in the same area, I could see the lagoon, except for one palm tree, I couldn't believe they would do that, just rip it out, and there would be an even better view!

I've never stayed at the Poly, but the bits I've seen while visiting are quite nice...I'd really like to say there!

Of course, my fantasy is still to stay in the Contemporary - tower room, MK view natch!
