recent mussings

so i may not be 1974 but i have given my AP a work out lately. Sadly i still seem to spend gobbs of money. However i have noticed things lots of little things that i figured to share stuff that i simply wish to discuss.

For starters the cleanliness of the parks seems to be less than stellar..its not god awful like some make it sound but it is surely a sore spot for WDW. there was trash in the usual places...like before you get in your doom buggy at HM or the restrooms at various times but even the right side of the guitar base outside RNRC was covered in what looked like soda (likely from guests above) can we not get a mop over there? hell hand me a mop i will do it for you. TSMM also had a fair bit of trash kicking around the Que...as well as beer consumption.

Moving on rude guest behavior seems to be a problem still. I never ran into any tour groups lately but in general i will say i have seen awful behavior from foreigners and Americans alike. sitting on the rails and or standing on them and shouting stuff in Spanish seemed to be popular and unsafe. Just last night we watched the electric parade and after the parade passed the raw amount of trash left behind via guests was appalling...there is a trash can every 50 feet or less probably. The fact that a crew has to come behind the route and clean it up is really upsetting. (glad Disney tries though) Flash photography on dark rides is also rampant but that's a given. in general i feel a lot of this behavior is due to the lack of spine Disney seems to have with discipline. Why cant they enforce a culture of respect and worth? people will begin to fall in line gradually over time when not returning becomes a real possibility or if spending your days at the hotel while your tour group is in the parks becomes a thing.

Onto talking about some rides and such, got to ride the wed-way people-mover a few times and the missing stripes on the space mountain rockets really makes that portion of the tour useless...i could turn the lights off in my garage and see the same thing. Speaking of space mountain i cannot believe how rough it is. i feel like the wheels lift off the track when it comes to the top of hills (i doubt this is the case as it probably has wheels on the bottom but somebody can correct me) the sheer enjoyment of the ride is solely caused by the roughness of the ride along with the speed it takes through corners that seem to lack any banking...i know its old but it HAS TO BE putting massive amounts of stress on the structure. Lets hope Disney can get around to this sometime. As an aside i have realized in don't entirely dislike Tomorrowlands theme as much as i dislike the colors...the yellow especially looks way to vibrant. simply going to more neutral colors would do wonders. The new rock paint did look pretty good IMO. the transition from Fantasyland to Tommorowland is still poor IMO inside the starlight cafe you can see this clearly. Heard of the singing robot before never really cared...now that i sat down there it really is a hidden gem in the park...sonny i think it is?

On an aside i really have grown to appreciate the little things and on our trips a lot went right. (every CM i ran into was great for example) so kudos to everyone making that happen. I have to mention the splash mountain dispatch team specifically because wow it was impressive how quick they loaded and unloaded those logs...tight ship over there was real nice to see. Got to ride the JC for the first time in probably 10 years and i have said on this very site that i feel it is an awful waste of space and i will stand by that however with one caveat i LOVED the skipper we had and the experience was great keep up the good work. the indie stunt show was a full house last weekend and i was a little surprised however i haven't seen it since my childhood and it was meh...not bad..some of you might bash but i liked the epic stunt show better IMO...full house none the less.

more later im sick of typing.

You had a number of interesting observations, but this one in particular, caught my interest. It bugs me that they don't have those cool green rays of light on the space mountain coaster vehicles, like they did years ago. It used to be so much fun on the TTA PeopleMover to go into the dark tunnel, and see the coaster vehicles "fly" around into space. They also had the audio turned up so you could hear the people screaming on space mountain, too! Fun memories. :joyfull:

It's not the missing rocket stripes that render it impossible to "see" Space Mountain from the TTA Peoplemover. During the last major SM refurb, walls were put up over most of the plexiglass, covering the queue lines, and making the inside darker and the track hard to see. And there are no more floating "chocolate chip cookies" (aka asteroids) on the ceiling which also provided some light.

Personally, I hate the change!
