If I ever win a BIG lottery, I'm in.

Sadly, the jackpot was $50 million (tax free!!) tonight, and as usual, I forgot to buy a ticket.

No doubt you came out ahead financially by not buying that ticket.

But I'm in the same boat - I'd need a lottery winning to ever afford Golden Oak.

...But winning a lottery and having that MAGICAL dream come true of living there would be awesome! Wonder if you are living there ALL THE TIME, I wonder if it would get "OLD" for most people!? After working there for a year at Magic Kingdom and Epcot, seeing the firework and parades everyday for a year...it made me appreciate the details more than I would if I just vacationed a week a year! Disney ruined fireworks for me! Once you have been accustomed to Disney fireworks, once you come home and don't have the constant shows every night, its a BIG let down!

If I were to win the lottery I'd be in Golden Oak in a heartbeat. I can't fathom getting "tired" or "burnt out" when it comes to WDW.

As it stands, my retirement plans are to purchase a vacation home in the vicinity (not quite Golden Oak, but I'll be happy) and winter at WDW. I'll still spend my summers in Canada.

We just returned from a 10-day Disney vacation (included a 3-night cruise in the middle), and we are Disney'd out for a while.

LOL in 2009 I did (solo) a 7 day carnival cruise to bahamas, puerto rico, turks and caicos, and 2 other islands. Arrived back in Miami then had the nerve to fly to Orlando for a 7 night/8 day disneyworld (solo) vacation. The cruise I loved but by day 3 of disney I was ready to go home.

Now I do not mix cruise with disney and I have reduced my number of days at the world. I now think 5 nights max are perfect because it makes me want more vs extended vacations then I left bored.

Other than these looking like beautiful homes, I just don't get the attraction to living in a neighborhood that happens to be on Disney property. They're not getting any of the benefits of staying at a Disney resort, but all the cost and then-some.

If I had the money to afford one of these, I think I'd rather stay in concierge suites for a few weeks a year and build my dream home overlooking a beach or in the mountains.

I have lived in O-town for almost a year now.

15 minutes away from Disney is close enough. Besides, the closer you are to Disney, the further from real things. I would much rather drive 15 minutes to a theme park that 15 minutes to a haircut. Or a grocery store. Or a Burger King.

I am also waiting for my big win, and be able to see out my later life living there. I could pop over to one of the parks and us my 3 Fasspass+ and then pop home again. As things stand we will have to carry on with going for a fortnight at least in one go. In my head DVC is a stepping stone to Golden Oaks. LOL

And really, it's a neighborhood that happened -- past tense -- to be on Disney property. Once they sell a house, it's no longer on Disney property. It's not like you will be getting RCID voting rights. In that sense, it's like Celebration. It's a neighborhood that is build on land Disney once owned.

I'd take a few weeks in a 1-Bedroom Grand Floridian Villa.
