March 20-30
I'm not a picky eater and don't have a lot of gourment experience to compare to, but I didn't have a dish that I didn't like. Everything was tender and all the sauces very tasty. Here are some notables.
Artist Point - Smoky Portobello Soup with Roasted Shiitakes and Chive Oil
(the best soup on property? The waiter said that the salmon fly in fresh everyday. I had a vision of fish sitting on an airplane reading the safety cards and putting on headphones. What's the inflight meal? Kelp?)
Whispering Canyon - Grilled Chicken Pasta -- penne and fresh vegetables tossed with Roasted Garlic Chipotle Cream Sauce
(we went early to avoid the insanity. The sauce is excellent and great for dipping vegetables - yours and others at your table!)
Citricos - Warm Onion Tart - with a walnut vinaigrette
(the best appetizer I've had on property. Share it with your partner and they'll cut it in half and serve it on two plates!)
Jiko - Pistachio Creme Brulee with layered chocolate bottom
(my favourite dessert ever. You can't beat the combination of flavours - assuming you like those flavours of course. Melt in your mouth good)
Le Cellier (lunch) - the Salmon Club - and a very good mango smoothie
(on a burger-type bun, with bacon and tomato. Scrumptious. Must be one of those salmon that flew in fresh)
Chefs de France - For apps. we split: Tarte a la Flamme Alsacienne and Tarte a la tomate et au fromage de chevre (they're big, the size of personal pizzas. One between us would have been enough. But I'm glad we sampled both. Lovely dinner overall, but please turn down the A/C. Brrrr. 75 outside; about 45 inside!)
- For dessert: I had chocolate mousse and it came WITH chocolate ice-cream. (Holy overload Batman. And then I walked over and rode Mission: Space. I think the sensation is less when you're stuffed to the gills)
Hollywood Brown Derby - Grapefruit cake (doesn't sound appealing, but it was excellent)
Tomorrowland Noodle Station - Drag. It was closed. Slim pickens at the MK
Boardwalk Bakery - Italian Muffaletta (yum. Get this early as they tend to sell out), Smoked Turkey Sandwich with mango chutney (yum again. Took this for the plane ride home)
