Johnny Depp is starting to look a bit like Dustin Hoffman as Captain Hook face wise. I think it's those eyebrows.

You must have never seen the original production where the wolf is intended to come off as..well a pedophile.
Not to mention the original costume was..well....much more phallic in nature....

This was never written as a children's musical. It is no surprise that in the Into the Woods Junior edition, they only perform Act One, which ends happily. Act Two is where everything hits the fan, and it is ignored as if it never existed in the kiddy version.

This is a show that looks at what happens after the happy ending and in many ways, questions the entire nature of happiness. We start off with characters wishing for things and then when they get what they wished for, did they really want it in the first place?

This is complex material and I hope that the movie doesn't dumb it down for mass consumption. Rob Marshall, the director, is pretty brilliant, so I have faith.
