Real People Reading Resumes

My dream job just recently opened up at Walt Disney World. Ecstatic, I applied and thought I had everything they were looking for. Not even two minutes after I sent in my resume, I was sent an automatic reply that said they weren't interested. It's nine at night, there is no way a human looked at my resume that quickly. I'm shattered that I couldn't even talk to a real person and show them what an asset I could be.

This is after I was turned down for the supposedly "easy" job to get, Attractions. (No, I don't have a criminal record, am of legal age, and have a pretty extensive work history.) When I went to Casting, as I had heard some people get interviews on the spot, I was pretty swiftly turned away. I also had a card from a friend that was a cast member's way of saying "this person has what it takes", and I called the number on the back, and there was no way to get a real human on the phone.

Is there any way I can talk to a real live person and show that I have that magic? I've been turned away again and again and I'm really not sure why.

You do know this is a fan site and not run by the Disney Company?

Yes, of course, and I was posting in the Employment area to possibly hear from someone who had the same problems.

It could be that the days that you put as available were days that they weren't looking for. The first time I applied I ended up being rejected because I wasn't available on Tuesdays for some reason, even though I was fully available on three other days.

@katiekinzakat When you got turned down did you talk to someone to find out that was the reason why? I was just wondering because I applied for a job and got NLICed soon after so I also doubt that a human looked at my resume.

I happened across a lecture on campus by a Disney bigwig. Afterwards I asked her how long it takes for applications to go from pending to approved (for some reason it said it was pending in my profile even though I had been denied). Her handler graciously took down my information and I received a call within a few weeks explaining just why my application was denied. It didn't appear like anybody had actually read it, the representative on the phone seemed to be reading off a computer screen, especially because the reasoning was so stupid.
I really don't understand how they do it, because they appear to be desperate for people judging by the amount of billboards I've seen and radio ads I've heard. It seems like they just randomly deny people for some reason which must be frustrating. Don't give up! It took me two tries and I have friends that applied between 4 and 10 times before they actually landed a position

Welcome to modern HR, Your resume is scanned for KEYWORDS and if a preset percentage of keywords are found your resume is sent to a human for review. It sucks but there it is. I would look at your friends successful resume and just pretend you are playing word search
