'Ratatouille' still tops at foreign box office

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "Ratatouille" cooked up a fifth consecutive weekend as the No. 1 choice at the international box office, selling an estimated $14.5 million worth of tickets in 29 territories.

In overseas release since June 28, the Disney cartoon finished at No. 1 in seven territories -- the U.K., Italy, Sweden, Poland, China, Switzerland and Denmark -- propelling its foreign total to $371.8 million.

Finishing second was "Resident Evil: Extinction," which scared up $10.7 million to lift its overseas total to $71 million. The horror/sci fi entry starring Milla Jovovich opened at No. 2 in Japan ($5 million) and Spain ($3.4 million), and at No. 1 in Chile ($140,000).



At No. 3 was "Saw IV." The grisly horror sequel grabbed $8.2 million, taking its overseas total to $22 million.

Fourth place went to the Ben Stiller comedy "The Heartbreak Kid," with $7.5 million; its overseas total stands at $30.3 million. Fifth overall was "Stardust," with $7.3 million, lifting the overseas total to $73.2 million.

North American champ "American Gangster" also opened at No. 1 in Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
