For some reason i dont like being on the first floor of the building because i worry someone can easly break in if we did forget to close the patio door and since we have a chance facing the monorail parkinglot a person can just walk right in.

And i dont think i can change room request because it says it on our reservation info

You can reques a new room at anytime. However that does not mean they will be able to honor your request. You can add your request to an existing reservation by calling the central reservation line, or ask at the front dest when you check in. The people at the Polynesian are great and want your stay to be enjoyable. I have even been able to change rooms after checking into the resort. As far as someone breaking into your room, Just make double sure you lock your door when you leave the room. Even on a 2nd or 3rd floor room. I can not recall a time where someone kicked in a door to gain access. It is typically due to abscent mindedness of folks not locking up after themselves

I just stayed on the first floor of Tahiti. Not my first choice, but that's what we got. The view was totally blocked, which was awesome, because we could just look at a bunch of greenery and not the rest of the resort. But I never like to be on the first floor of any hotel, just a personal preference.

Anyway, there's that double lock on the door - the big metal lock and the regular door lock. The a/c won't work if the door's open.

You can request a change of room, and they should accomodate your request if there's availability. Just know that if YOU request a different view, like lagoon or MK view, you can be charged more. If they stick you in that kind of room, then it's gratis.

Won't hurt to ask!!!

My husband only likes deluxe hotels because he hates the motel feel of the mods and value. I didn't feel that our first floor room was motel-ish at all. It may have been that blocked view, I don't know. I really don't like the first floor patios at all at Poly, and I guess if my view wasn't blocked, I really wouldn't have opened the windows very much.

I am glad to have helped. Disney is a place for fun, not fear. The Poly is a great place to relax. The ambience is awesome. Even if you have to stay in the room you have, try to enjoy. :):):)
