Out of the following WDW features how would you personally assess their importance?

Here’s my percentages:

Merch 3
Hotel 2
Rides 35
Golf 0
Eats 35
Shows 25
Conventions/Competitions 0

**browsing shops and not buying still counts for merch

**walking grounds and touring WDW resorts still counts for hotels; need not be registered guest

**rides can range from a water slide at Blizzard Beach to Rise of Resistance

**eats can be anything from a food cart to sit down at Vic and Albert’s to McD’s near All Stars to a beer at Showcase

** show can be drones at Disney Springs, parades, American Adventure, fireworks, impromptu diversions like Divina and Dapper Dan

Merch 5 (one souvenir per kid, one for us)

Hotel 16 (want to be in the bubble)

Rides 45 (the main attraction)

Golf 0 (can I put a negative number here and use extra points elsewhere?)

Eats 20 (I’d weigh this more heavily if I had a bigger budget)

Shows 14 (can’t miss Frozen, Muppets, Indiana Jones, and fireworks)

Merch 0 (Don’t buy much of anything, I have enough stuff and so much merch is overly cheap/childish looking.)
Hotel 23 (Mostly due to the amazing resort pools and waterslides)
Rides 42 (Waterparks are AMAZING, theme parks rides are great as well.)
Golf 0 (mini-golf is not included in the calculation)
Eats 5 (Don’t buy much food at the resorts or in the park, but when I do the food is great)
Shows 30 (HEA and Fantasmic! are often my main motivation for going to the parks)
Convention/competition 0

Hmmm??? Good question.

Let’s go with it’s not really golf……
It’s more like secondary, incidental or side entertainment on property which is outside the scope of what we’re doing here.
Alrighty, that’ll set golf to a zero for me then. Never played golf before and have no plans to for quite some time, lol.

I find your hotel assessment in conjunction with your eats unusual……..but refreshing.

I would expect most who stay on property do most, if not more or less all, dining/eating on property too.

We’re from Canada, so we also like to get food delivery to the resort from places like Chik Fil A and Shake Shack that we don’t have at home.

Hope this isn’t rude, but changed this up to add options that are important to my family.

Vibe / visuals / atmosphere: 20
Hotel: 20
Eats: 15
Vehicles and transportation: 15
Rides / activities: 10
Merch: 5
Shows: 2
Golf: 2
Conventions/Competitions: 1

Traveling with older grandparents and my son who doesn’t do 90% of rides, just being there vibing tends to be the biggest thing. Basking in the walk down Main Street, exploring World Show, that type of thing. The resorts are kind of an extension of that. Unfortunately they’ve started to go a little “Chanel and Chanel” with the bland rethemes and new builds, but many of the resorts still have a lot of character. And pools / waterslides are a big draw for the littles.

Restaurants are still a big deal for us as we’re basically annual visitors at this point, so we can only experience a handful of places each time. Still a lot we haven’t experienced there so it keeps things new.

Transportation - son has thus far been obsessed with monorail, buses, and Skyliner although I think he may be on the verge of outgrowing that. 😭

I appreciate the merch although now that shipping options are limited and prices are insane I tend to find that on sites like eBay and Mercari. Fun to look at in the parks but I’m not a big shopper there.

Golf / Shows / Conferences: Not at the moment but maybe one day. We don’t do golf or shows with little guy being so young (I don’t golf but hubs does.) Doubt I could find a conference related to my field on Disney property but in the future, hey, who knows?

I'm an outlier, merch for me is 20 or 25. I see my trips as annual opportunities to load up on new merch. Food is like a 5, (unless that includes dining atmosphere which would bump it to maybe 15? Like I love San Angel or Garden Grill) I get plant-based meals and while there are some good ones (Satuli, Skipper Canteen) most of them are pretty meh, and I don't drink so stuff like Food & Wine are pretty meaningless to me. So let's see:

Merch - 25
Hotel - 10 (just gotta be onsite)
Rides - 35
Golf - 0
Eats - 5
Shows - 25
Conventions/Competitions - 0
Disney Bubble - 9000

Merch 10 - Always on the lookout for new stuff
Hotel 20 - Love being on site
Rides 25 - Main reason for visiting the parks
Golf 25 - My solo trips are 1/2 Disney, 1/2 golf trip
Eats 10 - There are some favorites but nothing I won't feel bad about missing
Shows 10 - Always try to see MK fireworks. Haven't seen Luminous yet. Saw Fantasmic last year for first time in years. I can take it or leave it.
Conventions/Competitions 0

as for “vehicles”, I know you can’t be talking about buses(transports) and parking lot trams……are you?

“transportation” means Skyliner, Friendship boats, monorails, ferry boats…….right?
I mean any vehicle. The airplane and whatever we ride in from the airport as well, although they aren't technically Disney. Definitely the buses. We haven't taken the parking lot trams although they would probably qualify. I would have included the train but that's half transportation half ride. (I remember AJ from DFB referencing a time when all her son wanted to do was ride the buses, so I know I'm not totally alone on that one, lol!)

Some kids have princess mania, DS has vehicle mania. I think he may have hit the peak of that, although as I type this I'm looking at my living room which has been taken over by train layouts and drawings of imaginary vehicles! 😂

That's easy:

Staying on property (never having to worry about a hot car or directions) 30%

Just the vibe at Disney, the music, even the gift shops are magical (how do they do it 20%

The Magic Kingdom w/nostalgia, it feels like all my daily stress goes away 20%

The meal plan.... something about eating at Disney, I know the food is mediocre, even at the best restaurants, but it's Disney 20%

And that on Disney property there are no billboards or reminders of the real world 10%
