Randomness of Mission Space???

Rode it 2X times yesterday and seemed like the same exact experience.

Is there supposed to be a randomness to the ride? I know the computer simply overrides you if you don't push the buttons in time, but is there any effect?

I know using the joystick to steer at the canyon part and landing doesn't do anything.

Just wondering if I'm missing something. Thanks :-)

Its the same ending every time. Hey, I know in both pods I was in, the joysticks moved themselves....did they do the same for you? I hope a little down the road, they do some randomness with MS

Its the same everytime just like Body Wars, and Star Tours

The only thing I think is this if you dont hit your buttons for the sleep, wing extension etc the little light flashing that happens behind you when you hit those buttons does not happen. I will find out tonight I wont hit mine :)

rode it again last night. This time my crew did not have an engineer. So when we where suppose to go to sleep a computer voice came over that said "Computer Overrride" the button wasnt pushed in the allocated time, I imagine 2-5 seconds is the time allowed for a buttons to be pushed IF THAT

The same thing happened with decent into Mars when the glide wings needed to be extended.

Hope that helps :)

I spoke with Bob Sehlinger (author of the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World) yesterday about this specific topic. Bob said that when he took the M:S tour in March, WDW officials were emphasizing the fact that the ride would be different every time. He said they really played up the interactive nature of the ride. And I find it hard to believe that WDI is going to spend over $100 million on a static ride these days. Look at the success of Buzz and ToT4.

Given that, perhaps WDI is testing the attraction in "non-interactive" mode right now, just to make sure all the kinks are worked out. That is, they're making sure the basics work before adding on the bells & whistles. If I was an engineer, that's what I'd do.

Anonymous replies from WDI are always welcomed: testa@ncat.edu.

Sincerely,

Len

I think several of us are considering this as the explanation right now. Then again, maybe this will be added later like the ToT upgrades. The ride will have an enormous line for many years and having a different experience every time you ride is just going to complicate the lines with more repeat riders than normal.

I am pretty sure the ride is running in its final configuration in terms of interactivity. Due to the precision timing required on the ride, and the fact that there are 10 pods on one centrifuge, there really cant be any difference between what happens inside each of the pods. Therefore I am guessing that each pod must experience the exact same visuals, motion and ride duration.

I agree and lean heavier to that currently. Maybe 5-10 years down the road a new mission but right now I think we have the final print.

I feel just my 2 cents if you did have different rides per say you would kill everyone with lines cause everyone would have to say well i did ride A I need to do ride B now etc.

Either way we have one heck of a G Ticket Ride
