Disney does not set off random fireworks. They either were intentional or accidental or not Disney.

It was likely for a private event, probably a wedding. As part of Disney Fairytale Weddings you can add a fireworks package where a barge is brought out into the lagoon and fired from behind the wedding pavilion.

There was security swarming over the lake earlier in the evening to keep people in the mini racer boats away from the barge.
