Rainy day ideas

Hello all,
I will be leaving for a weekend in Disney tomorrow :sohappy: With Wilma headed that way i'm a bit concerned about our trip as is everyone else on the boards that is headed there this weekend:brick: As of this morning it looks like Wilma will be hitting FL on Sun. I'm crossing fingers and praying it will just be lots of rain, in that case, does anyone have any suggestions for a park on a rainy day..I had originally planned to hit up AK on Sunday but with the rain I might change our plans. Which park do you guys think would be the best for a rainy day?

I hope everyone in the southern FL region remains safe!!

I'd say Epcot has the largest number of indoor attractions. So that may be a good idea. I wouldn't let the rain control your weekend though. Get a poncho and go where ever you please. :D

thanks everyone!! we were planning to do epcot all day for the F&W festival, but my fiance has never been to MK, so maybe that will be an option...do they close the mountains when it rains?

If lightning is a threat, which it would be in a hurricane situation, they close any ride that has outdoor sections.

Last year we were there (All Star Movies) when a hurricane hit. If I recall, it was Francis. We were stuck in the room from about 3:00 p.m. one day, all of the next day, and until about dinner the following day. They played a few of the newer Disney movies over and over again. Everything was closed, and I mean everything: the parks, the resort restaurants, even the food courts and stores. All we had was some leftover pizza, some bottles of water, a few soft drinks, and some snack food. If you are there and they warn you that everything will be closing, take them seriously and stock up on as much stuff as you can from the food court!

My only piece of advice is to pack shoes that dry out quickly! But other than that, Epcot and MK are both good choices. Both have many attractions inside and you will have to walk outside between buildings either place as well.

Unfortunatly, The Living Seas is closed now. That was always a great inside attraction to eat up a lot of time when it rains.

I would go to Magic Kingdom if it was raining. There would be shorter lines and a ton of stuff to do! :) Get a poncho and enjoy yourself!

**All who are traveling this weekend to WDW, have a magical trip, but stay safe and listen to weather reports!**

what about disney quest -thats indoors.

ive been in epcot when its lashed it down and i got soaked what with all the space between places thats why when ever i go now i take my mickey mouse poncho but when i was there in aug/sept. 2004 i bought a yellow poncho from goodlings for $1.00.

what about hotel hopping that way your indoors and in a different place and the other resorts might have activities and shows on. just a thought.

I'd say Disney Quest would be fun but then again alot of people might have the idea to go there and could be crowded. So I say get a pair of comfy sandals or flip flops, a cheap poncho or 2 from like wal-mart, they are quite small so you can carry them easily, then just enjoy the park you choose. Sometimes its fun running around soaking wet, I've actually done it a few times at the park. Just be sure to put anything you don't want wet, ex. passes, money, phone, in a ziploc back and you'll be good to go! :)

Well, anybody who was there last Xmas will tell you: it poured, poured, and poured some more! We were at MK on Xmas day 2004 and it was sooo bad that everyone made a mad exodus out of the park at noonish. We went back to Port Orleans and tried to wait it out by playing at the arcade but the rain was not letting up.

So, I went downstairs and asked the VERY nice manager at the front desk if we could PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE have comp tickets for Disney Quest due to the rain. I explained my sister (who is in the military) had saved up all year to bring her kids down to FL and now we were all stuck in the room because we didn't have enough money after buying park tickets to do much else.

He was SO nice, he gave us 6 comped tickets to Disney Quest for the day due to the rain. It was so much fun! They actually have simulated virtual Disney rides like Pirates of the Caribbean and Jungle Cruise. And yes, the place was packed due to the rain so there were LONG lines waiting for the Disney "rides" but that just helped to make it feel like we were really at a park!

I found it to be a great place to hang out during a rainy day. Fair warning though, those of you with small kids, NO strollers are allowed at Disney Quest due to space constraints so if you have little ones, you'll have to carry them or have them walk (if they can walk already) the entire time. Poor DH, his arms were so sore the next day. But if your kids are older, you should have a great time!

Aside from that, resort hopping on the Monorail is a GREAT idea. I for one, did not enjoy the parks one bit while it was raining. Most rides don't have a place to park your strollers when it is raining so even with extra ponchos purchased just to keep the strollers dry, whenever we came out of a ride to get our strollers, they were SOAKED! And all our shoes were soaked too! OK when it is warm, but in December when it can get real cold, it was SO miserable.

Just my 2 cents!

Buy a poncho from wherever and go get wet and have fun! It's just water falling from the sky! The last hurricane that went through Florida didn't cause too much rain up here. That was Katrina before she became huge. We saw clouds, humidity, and some showers, but nothing to make anyone upset here in Orlando!

If it's not lightning, you can always go to a waterpark! You're there to get wet, so why not get wet at a waterpark in the rain?

I love it in the rain!

The time before last we had a solid day of rain and we practically had MK to ourselves.

But then us brits are used to a touch of soggy weather.
